We would like to announce the birth of Myah Grace Williams born to Mike and Angela Williams. Myah (Gracie) was born 8/02/08 at 12:17 a.m. at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Radfird, VA. She weighed 7 lbs 10 ozs and was 20 inches long.
Angie's mother Angel told her that she would go into labor Friday August 1st and have the baby on the second, two weeks prior to the birth, which she ended up doing. And even more exact was the time predicted the birth to take place. Angel said her first granddaughter would be born between 12:15 a.m.and 12:20 a.m.. Gracie arrived at 12:17 a.m on August 2nd. Now that's a mother/ daughter connection.
We are very blessed to have such a beautiful addition to the Williams/Valiant family. My God lead us in the right way to guide her through life.
Jimmy and Angel Valiant

Friday night…another start to another weekend for the busiest wrestling promotion on the east coast, National Wrestling Superstars as they kicked off the first of five shows in August at the Union (NJ) Elks Lodge on August 1st. While attendance is light over the summer (not just in NWS but all promotions) over 150 fans decided to forgo the trip to the Jersey Shore and stay close to home to watch one of the best nights of action seen in Union County in a long time.

The opening contest saw former NWS Jersey Shore champion Nicky Oceans take on newcomer Shadow. Oceans told Shadow to save himself the pain and go back to the locker room, but Shadow said “I’m out to show you and everyone here that you are not as good as you think you are”. This unnerved Oceans as Shadow stood toe to toe with the former champion for almost 7 minutes before Oceans staged a come back and hit Shadow with a superkick for the pin and the win.

The next bout was a #1 contender’s bout for the NWS tag team titles. The first team out was JT Highlander and Chris Banks who played up to the crowd before their opponents, Corvis Fear and JD Smooth came through the curtains to thunderous boos. Both teams seem to had scouted the other very well as all four wrestlers showed how much they wanted the title shot. In the end, after nearly 10 minutes of action, Banks and Highlander came out victorious over Fear and Smooth and were told that they would have their title shot against Oceans and Mr. Motion on October 3rd in Sayreville, NJ.

The third bout of the night saw local hero Ryan Angus take on the Mexican sensation Antonio Malave. Malave, coming back from a recent tour overseas showed the fans what aggressive wrestling can be like and attacked Angus from the opening bell. Maybe it was jet lag, who knows, but somehow, Angus scored a pinfall on Malave. While the ring announcer was telling the fans the result of the bout, JD Smooth ran to ringside and tossed Angus a chain. Just then, the referee turned around and saw the chain in Angus’ hand and reversed the decision (even though it was clear he did not use the chain), allowing Malave (with the help of Smooth) to steal a victory.

Next was a David vs Goliath match pitting nearly 400 pound Saddam Insane (with his body guard Danny Demanto) against Nikko, the Winged Monkey Boy (with Bachagaloop, the Walking Banana in his corner). Demanto, yelling at the crowd, actually slipped on a banana peel in the ring (Saddam said he was hungry and dropped the peal after being yelled at by Demanto). Once the match got started, it was obvious that Saddam was going to annihilate his smaller opponent, however Nikko used his speed to keep away from the big man. Once Saddam got ahold of him, it was business as usual but with Bachagaloop on the outside taunting the mideastern Madman, Nikko surprised Saddam with a splash from the top turnbuckle and scored the surprise of the century...a 1-2-3 for the pin.. An irate  Demanto called for help from the back and JD Smooth came to the ring to make it a 3 on 2 beat down before Tito Santana came to the rescue. NWS Commissioner Gino Moore came to ringside and told Danny he’d better have his gear because he was now in the main event against Tito Santana.

After a 20 minute intermission where the wrestlers took pictures (and Tito sold his book), the action resumed with Mr. Nick Gregory and Bonecrusher Fred Sampson taking in Brian Harley and Corey Havoc. There is a lot of history between Sampson, Gregory and Harley in Union County and throwing Havoc into the mix just added more excitement as the team of Gregory and Sampson defeated their opponents in an exciting match.

The main event saw former WWE star and Hall of Famer Tito Santana take on Danny Demanto. Demanto, who had his own cheering section in the building showed NWS promoters that he could compete with any legend or as he called them “has beens”  and told NWS officials that if anything happened, not only to Tito, but any legend he put them up against, it would not be his fault. Demanto, to his credit, backed up his words and made Tito work hard, but in the end, Tito hit his patented forearm for the victory.

Next NWS event this Thursday in Seaside Heights with The Mummy, The Zombie and The Clown. Visit www.nwswrestling.com for all details and directions.
