NWS & WSU Will Double-Up To Produce A Double-Fun Double-Shot Weekend 8/22-8/23 With Former WWE Diva Dawn Marie, Former WCW Diva/Manager/ Broadcaster Missy Hyatt, Former WWE star Salvatore Sincere, The Former ECW Zombie, And Many Other NWS & WSU Stars

Two for one... it may be an over-used sales pitch, but it still works. And tri-state area promotions National Wrestling Superstars and Womens Superstars Uncensored are counting on it the weekend of August 22nd-23rd, as they will team up for another no-doubt-to-be-successful double-shot weekend, featuring both the muscle-bound maniacal men of NWS and the bodacious beauties of Womens Superstars Uncensored.

Former WWE stars Salvatore Sincere and Dawn Marie, along with former ECW'er The Zombie, will be leading the charge both nights. Also seeing ring time both nights will be the WSU Champion (and former ECW Women's Champion) the evil Angel Orsini, the dyanmic Portia Perez, the athletic Trixie Lynn, plus fan favorite Roxie Cottontail.

Friday night August 22nd, the action returns to the site of the 2008 NWS/WSU Women's J-Cup Tournament, Neptune, NJ's Shark River Hills Firefouse Hall (200 Brighton Avenue, minutes from Routes 18 & 33 and the Parkway), with a 7:45pm bell time. In addition to the above headliners, the Jersey Shore's own mighty mite Mikey Pacifica will be in action.

Saturday night August 23rd, NWS & WSU play up in north Jersey at the Belleville Knights Of Columbus Hall (98 Bridge Street in Belleville, NJ, at Belleville Avenue, minutes from the Parkway), with a 7:35pm bell time. Former WCW manager, announcer, diva, and all around classy lady Missy Hyatt will join the above headliners in Belleville, along with one of the more talented wrestlers in the northeast, popular area resident and NWS NJ Heavyweight Champion Vicious Vinny, and the much less popular but equally dangerous Danny Demanto.

Tickets for each show are only $18 for adults and $15 for kids and seniors, and can be purchased by calling the NWS box office at (732) 888-1704. All major credit cards are accepted, and group rates are available for groups of ten or more.

Keep reading this publication as more details will be announced in the coming weeks.

Obama Need Not Worry as McCain Woos “Wrestling Demographic”

As only nervous Barack Obama supporters can do, Sam Stein of The Huffington Post worries out loud about the implications of John McCain’s appearance – replete with lowbrow images of underdressed females in a swarm of military veterans – at the annual motorcylists’ rally in Sturgis, South Dakota. Will McCain make a successful pitch for the voter bloc loosely defined as the NASCAR-cum-pro-wrestling crowd?

Relax. What Obama needs to do in response to McCain’s rather desperate effort to emulate George H.W. Bush’s professed fondness for pork rinds and aversion to broccoli can be summarized in one word: nothing.

Funk's Corner - Terry Funk says, “Don’t point the finger at me for starting that g*&%amn, fat-ass Dusty Rhodes.

The September Issue of WWE Magazine is now on sale at news stands everywhere.

Dory Funk Jr. - NWA World Champion 4 & 1/2 years
Terry Funk - NWA World Champion
Stan Hanson - AWA World Champion
Dusty Rhodes - NWA World Champion
Bobby Duncum - AWA World Tag Team Champion
Ted Dibiase - Million Dollar Man
Kelley Kiniski - WCCW Television Champion

Bruiser Brody - World Class Championship Wrestling Champion
Manny Fernandez - NWA World Tag Team Champion
Barry Windham - U.S. Champion
Tito Santana - WWE Hall of Fame / Intercontinental Champion

*Dick Murdoch - Captain Redneck / Honorary Buffalo

"There is one famous wrestler who is synonymous with WT and their football program but can't be found in the registrar's office, "Captain Redneck, Dick Murdoch is considered an alumnus of WT even though he never went to the university." Dory Funk Jr. says. "it's an honorary degree. He loved West Texas football so much and was always down at the sidelines that people just assumed that he was a part of it. Dick actually played middle linebacker in the West Texas Alumni game. The people that were there at the time had no idea that he never actually attended WT. He was cited for unnecessary roughness against these college kids."

Credit is given to the influence of the Funk family, Dory Funk Sr., Terry Funk and Dory Funk Jr. in professional wrestling and athletics in the West Texas Area for the entrance of so many into the wrestling business.

In regard to who was responsible for all of these wrestlers coming into the wrestling business, Terry Funk says, “Don’t point the finger at me for starting that g*&%amn, fat-ass Dusty Rhodes. Don't point the finger at me for bringing all those goofy people in there."

Pick up the September Issue (Now on sale everywhere) of WWE Magazine and read the complete story including photos of the athletes in their playing days with West Texas State University.   www.dory-funk.com.
