By Johnny Gargano
Let's start with Jon Davis. Anyone who caught any of the iPPVs from the last DGUSA tripleshot should know what went down. Jon tried to put me out every single night. But guess what, Jon? I'm still here. I'm still Champion. I'm not going to talk trash on Facebook, because from the obvious lack of spelling, and the random capitalization of letters that you use on Twitter, using a computer is not one of your strong points. I know this weekend is EVOLVE and there's no attacks and that kind of stuff, but I have something to say to you, and at some point this Saturday I'll get in your face and say it.
I will say one thing now, and that's I'll never quit. You see, that Open The Freedom Gate Title defines who I am. It is my identity, and that means no matter what I'll never stop. I can't quit, because I see what it means to the people. People like Peyton down in Carolina, people like Kayden, a little boy who is battling cancer who gave me his ID bracelet from one of his chemotherapy sessions because Johnny Gargano is his hero. I fight for them.
That brings me to big question on everyone's minds:
Johnny Gargano or Sami Callihan. Who's your pick?
You look at me and Sami and on the outside you see two completely different people, but if you take everything away, at our core, Sami and I are very much alike. We were two fat kids who grew up in Ohio loving professional wrestling, and wanting nothing more than to be successful at it, even when every one told us we never would be. We both started in wrestling and you can say we've been on parallel paths our entire careers. We both traveled the same roads coming up in this business. Sami and I actually have a long history way before DGUSA, in this local promotion that's not around anymore called American Luchacore. We actually had a pretty intense feud several years ago.. From there we both worked our balls off to get in shape, to get better in the ring and prove the world wrong. We both started as nobodies in DGUSA and EVOLVE. Yet, we both made the most of every opportunity given to us and we both climbed up the card together.
As the years have progressed though, it seems like we've both taken very different paths in DGUSA. I can't say that I respect Sami for the path that he has chosen, but I've sat back and I've watched Sami, and I've heard what he's been saying lately. How he's more focused than ever, and how he's ready to be a Champion. Sami, I'm glad you feel you're ready to be a Champion, but the thing is, I'm not ready to stop being one.
It's been a while since we've actually had a match, but we've had wars in the past and I expect this Saturday to be no different. It's just going to come down to who wants it more. I represent this company with pride. Johnny Gargano IS The Open The Freedom Gate title. I've held it for almost 400 days. It is my life. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I will not stop. I will not give up. I am All Heart, and If you want that title bad enough Sami, you're going to have to kill me to take it from me.
