NWS Results From New Milford, CT 12/5: Former WWE & ECW Hardcore Icon Spike Dudley Vs. J.D. Smoothie In A "Loser Gets Put Through A Door" Match, Former WWE Tag-Team Champion Jim "The Anvil" Niedhart & Jumping Joey Janella Vs. "Corrupted" Corey Havoc & "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans, Former NWA Heavyweight Champion Ox Baker & More As NWS Goes Nuts In The Nutmeg State
National Wrestling Superstars literally took its show on the road... all the way up to the New Milford, CT High School Gym on Saturday night December 5th. And despite the gloom-and-doom looking weather, and the fact that this show was more "tele-marketed" by the sponsoring group than advertised, a better than expected crowd turned out, and was enthusiastic indeed, and NWS certainly gave them a lot to be enthusiastic about.
In addition to the advertised superstars, prior to the show the fans had the privilege of greeting a surprise guest - former NWA Heavyweight Champion and Connecticut resident Ox Baker.
The show opened with a moment of silence for the late former WWE star Umaga who had passed away the day before.
In the opening contest, the half-man half-ape Kong-arilla defeated The Illegal Space Alien. Despite neither combatant speaking English, making it hard for the referee to control them, they waged a fierce battle. Towards the end, The Alien threw Kong out of the ring, but in attempting to leap out after him, he got tangled in the ropes. Kong took advantage and leveled The Alien with a 6-1-9 followed by the cover and the 1-2-3.
In a tag-team match, The World Famous Wrestling Clown & Indian Chief Draven defeated The Soul Assassin & Jack Spade. The veteran Clown and Draven prevailed against the under-handed tactics of Spade and The Assassin. After enduring a double-team assault, Draven managed to tag in the Clown who cleaned house on both Spade and The Assassin, and locked Spade in a Stump-Puller submission hold, getting Spade to tap out and earning the victory.
In a tag-team match that was the first of two main event matches, former WWE Tag-Team Champion Jim "The Anvil" Niedhart & NWS Cruiserweight Champion Jumping Joey Janella defeated another championship duo in NWS Heavyweight Champion "Corrupted" Corey Havoc & NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans. Havoc and Oceans were reluctant to get in the ring with The Anvil, prompting him to chase them all around the gym and even up into the side bleachers. The match finally got under way, with Havoc and Niedhart asserting the strength and Oceans and Janella using their speed. Oceans and Havoc were able to trap Janella in their corner and double-teamed him for several minutes. But after Havoc missed an attempt to copy Oceans' senton splash on Janella, Niedhart tagged in and cleaned house, and he and Janella leveled Oceans with a Hart Foundation clothesline, and covered him for the 1-2-3. The victory celebration was almost immediately interrupted by J.D. Smoothie and Jack Spade who hit the ring and attacked Niedhart and Janella. The four-on-two beatdown continued until former WWE & ECW hardcore icon Spike Dudley ran out and chased the attackers away. Spike set his sights on Smoothie, his opponent in their main event match that night, and chased him back to the locker room.
Skitzo defeated luchador Manuel Manny Moore. The former mental hospital patient used his size advantage to counter the airborne assault of the veteran Moore. Despite Moore "Manny-ing" up and hitting a three leg drops (two Hogan-style and one Kofi Kingston-style) and a People's Elbow, Skitzo stopped Moore from hitting a Shawn Michaels-style superkick and leveled Manny with (of all things) a Stone Cold Stunner followed by a 1-2-3.
In the other main event match, former WWE & ECW hardcore icon Spike Dudley defeated former NWS Cruiserweight Champion "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie in a "Loser Gooes Through A Door" Match. The two attacked each other before the bell even rang, and took the fight all over the gym, using chairs, briefcases, "Wet Floor" signs, and anything else they could find. Spike dragged Smoothie over to Ox Baker's autograph table where Ox hit Smoothie with his still-dangerous huge left fist, and Smoothie threw Spike down from the top row of the bleachers after the two fought all the way up there. The fight finally returned to the ring and Spike brought out the wooden door, and the two fought to throw each other into it for several minutes. The match ended when Smoothie charged at Spike with a clothesline, and Spike ducked down and back-body-dropped Smoothie right onto the door in the corner, smashing it in two and earning the victory.
NWS closes out 2009 with its 56th and final contracted event of 2009 on Saturday December 12th in Flemington, NJ with a joint show with sister promotion Women Superstars Uncensored, featuring former WWE hall of famer Tito Santana vs. ex-WWE developmental star Kevin Matthews, WSU World Champion Mercecdes Martinez vs. TNA star Awesome Kong, former ECW & WSU Women's Champion Angel Orsini vs. former WWE Women's Champion Jazz, and much more.
