Results From Last Weekend
It was a dark and stormy night... but this is no mystery novel, this was NWS' annual return to Carteret, NJ's Divine Mercy/Holy Family Parish Hall on Friday night February 18th, and neither the weather nor the fact that it was a holiday weekend were going to stop the fans from seeing the rumored reunion of two pro wrestling icons, as a much better than expected crowdlined the Parish Hall for a hot night of pro wrestling action.
- In the opening contest, "Atomic Dog" Ali defeated Dazzling Divine. The two big men battled all over the ring, and despite Divine's unusual and unpredictable style, Atomic Dog hit Divine with a series of JYD-style head-butts on all fours, then put down Divine for good with a powerslam for the 1-2-3.
- Before the next bout, Steve "Monsta" Mack came out, with former WCW diva Gorgeous George by his side. Mack claimed he had lived in Carteret for years, can't stand the people, and couldn't wait to move out, and with Gorgeous George's managerial brains in his corner he was going to defeat former WWE & WCW & TNA legend X-Pac. Gorgeous George took the microphone and said that she might be his manager, but she actually liked meeting all the Carteret fans. Mack was furious, and after insulting her, ordered her to come back with him to the locker room, sew up a hole in his sweatsocks, and get him ready for the main event.
- In a one-on-one bout, local favorite Nick Napoleon battled former NWS Heavyweight Champion "Corrupted" Corey Havoc to a ten-minute time-limit draw. Napoleon surprsingly hung in there against his larger opponent, using his quickness to overcome Havoc's strength advantage. After rallying with a series of high-flying kicks, Napoleon appeared to have Havoc on the ropes, but he missed a moonsault off the top rope. Havoc hit a crucifix slam on Napoleon, but as the referee started to count the pin, the bell rang indicating the time limit had expired and the match was declared a draw. Havoc shook Napoleon's hand in what appeared to be a show of good sportsmanship, but then turned around and clotheslined Napoleon and left the ring to boos from the crowd.
- "The Warrior" Jack Spade (with his "Thunder Horse" tag-team partner Indian Chief Draven in his corner) defeated "The White Urkel" B. Fehrm. Going into the match, Spade had the size and strength advantage, as well as Draven on the outside getting in his shots wherever possible. Fehrm made a courageous effort, and after hitting a huge superkick on Spade, it looked like he might pull off the upset, but Draven tripped Fehrm up from outside the ropes, and Spade hit a powerbomb and got the 1-2-3.
- In an International Tag-Team Match, Team USA (former WWE & WCW star "America's Hero" The Patriot & Damien Darling, with Carteret Little League's Coach Angelo in their corner) defeated The Sicilian Mob (T.J. Marconi & Richard Michaels, with "The Don" Don Caruso). The match was a huge brawl inside and outside the ring. Marconi and Michaels double-teamed Darling for several minutes, but could not put him away, and after The Patriot was tagged in he cleaned house on the entire Sicilian Mob. Don Caruso jumped up onto the ring apron with his baseball bat to try and take out Patriot, but he missed and Marconi got knocked out instead, making him easy pickings for a Patriot chokeslam and the 1-2-3.
- As Patriot and Darling were celebrating their victory, Don Caruso signaled for his all his buddies to come to the ring (Monsta Mack, J.D. Smoothie, Chris Steeler & Corey Havoc) and gang-attack Patriot and Darling, which they did, until the attack was broken up by "Atomic Dog" Ali and former WWE/WCW/TNA star X-Pac himself. Mack was furious at X-Pac for his interference and promised to finish him off for good in the main event later that night.
- In another tag-team attraction, "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie & "High Definition" Chris Steeler defeated the team of Corvis Fear & Jumping Joey Janela. Between the high-flying of Smoothie and Janela and the hard-hitting of Steeler and Fear, this was a pitched battle inside and outside the ring. Towards the end, Smoothie and Fear were brawling on the outside and Janela had Steeler on the ropes, then Janela flew off the top rope right into a superkick from Steeler, who covered him for the 1-2-3.
- His presence had been rumored on the Internet for days (but not confirmed until that night), former WWE & WCW & TNA legend Scott Hall came out to the ring to introduce his long-time friend, fellow WWE/WCW/TNA alumnus X-Pac.
- Former WWE & WCW & TNA star X-Pac (with Scott Hall in his corner) defeated Steve "Monsta" Mack (with former WCW diva Gorgeous George). Mack attacked Hall while he was still in the ring before the bell, drawing the ire of X-Pac immediately, and the fight was on. The match pitted Mack's strength and brawling skills against X-Pac's high-flying quickness, as the two battled inside and outside the ring, with Hall and Mack exchanging shots on the outside as well. After squeezing the breath out of X-Pac, Mack appeared to be poised for the upset he had promised, but he missed a flying splash. A rejuvenated X-Pac hit a series of kicks, then planted Mack in the corner for his famed bronco-buster, but as X-Pac came flying into the corner he was met with a boot to the face by Mack. An overjoyed Mack climbed to the top turnbuckle and started bragging to the fans, but he failed to see Scott Hall come into the ring. Hall snuck up behind Mack as he faced the crowd from the top rope, seized him, and planted him into the mat with a thunderous Razor's Edge to the roar of the crowd. Mack signaled for Gorgeous George to help him, but she had had enough of his treatment, and as Mack got to his feet, George planted her knee in his "nether region". X-Pac finished off Mack with an X-Factor facebuster, and got the 1-2-3 pin.
- The reunited Hall and X-Pac celebrated in the ring, then stayed around to continue meeting the fans, signing autographs, and posing for pictures.
NWS concluded their huge double-shot weekend on Saturday night February 19th with their annual mega-show at the Bloomfield, NJ High School Gym, and, as in past years, the Bloomfield area fans welcomed NWS with open arms as a huge crowd filled the ringside seats and a good part of the bleachers to cheer on their favorites in a night of great action.
- Before the opening bell, The Nigerian Nightmares (La-Fu and Ra-Fu) came out to ringside, dragging a tied-up Botchagalup The Banana Boy behind them. (They apparently hadn't been fed dinner yet and were threatening to make him their next meal). Their handler Princess Niya came out and seemed to get them under control, to the point where they released Banana Boy and went to the back to find a more acceptable meal.
- In the opening contest, newly-crowned NWS Cruiserweight Champion Spyral made his first successful title defense against Philadelphia area veteran challenger Devon Moore. The two matched holds back and forth, inside and outside the ring. After Devon hit a superkick and a superplex on Spyral, it looked like there might be new champion crowned once again, but Devon went to the well once too often, missing a moonsault from the top rope, Spyral hit a side powerbomb on Devon, followed by a flying splash, and coveredhim for the 1-2-3.
- In one of the more unusual triple-threat matches seen in NWS, The Famous TV Wrestling Clown defeated Judas Young and NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans. Judas and Nicky ganged up on The Clown two on one from the start, and The Clown dug deep into his bag of tricks to keep them at bay. But the tricks weren't enough to keep Nicky and Judas from overpowering The Clown, and he was out-brawled for several minutes. But when Nicky and Judas started making pinfall attempts, the other one would break it up, claiming they wanted to be the winner, and this break in the action allowed The Clown to battle back and knock both of them out of the ring, Judas was furious at Nicky, and attacked him on the outside with his own title belt. Once back in the ring, Nicky drop-kicked Judas off the apron to the floor, knocking him out. Nicky locked The Clown in a Sharpshooter, but The Clown made it to the ropes. Nicky then went for a moonsault on the weakened Clown, but he missed, and The Clown locked on a Stump Puller, and Nicky eventually tapped out, giving The Clown the victory.
- NWS Tag-Team Champions The Jersey Shore Jocks (Mike Dennis & Chris D'Andrea) successfully defended their titles against the team known as Hot And Dangerous ("Too Hot" Steve Scott & Nick Talent). Scott and Talent had been chasing after the champions for months, and were hoping to embarass the champions in front of the huge Bloomfield crowd. The challengers gave the champions a good fight, and towards the end had Dennis and D'Andrea both perched on opposite corners, ready to superplex them into defeat. ButThe Jocks knocked them both off, and hit twin Coast-To-Coast flying splashes to get the 1-2-3.
- In another tag-team contest, "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie & "Corrupted" Corey Havoc (with manager "The Verbal Assassiin" Gigalo Joe Jones) defeated the duo of Neko The Monkey Man & Botchagalup The Banana Boy (with former WWE hall-of-famer George "The Animal" Steele in their corner). Smoothie and Havoc may be among the best conventional wrestlers in NWS, but their opponents were as unconventional as they get, and befuddled the two veterans for most of the match. But, after surviving a pair of monkey flips from Neko, Havoc and Smoothie put down Banana Boy with a superkick by Smoothie into a crucifix slam by Havoc, which got him the 1-2-3. Havoc and Smoothie continued to pound away at Neko and Banana Boy until their manager George "The Animal" Steele came into the ring and chased them away.
- During intermission, NWS introduced a surprise guest, former WWE & WCW & TNA star Scott Hall, who signed autographs and took pictures with the fans.
- In the first of the two main event matches, former WWE star Gene "It's Not My Fault" Snitsky defeated Danny Inferno in a "Loser Goes Through A Door" Match. Despite Inferno's initial claims that he would never be put through a door, he was reluctant to get into the ring with the big man. When the match finally got under way, it was a hard-hitting brawl all over the ring. Inferno eventually brought the door and a pair of chairs into the ring, and initially pounded Snitsky with the chairs before being drop-toe-holded onto one. Snitsky mounted the door on top of the two chairs, and the two pounded on each other some more, trying to weaken the other enough to smash through the door. But in the end it was Inferno who was chokeslammed through the door by Snitsky, giving Snitsky the victory.
- In the second of the main event matches, a six-person inter-gender tag-team matchup, The Nigerian Nightmares (La-Fu & Ra-Fu) & their wrestling handler Princess Niya (with manager George "The Animal" Steele) defeated "The Baghdad Bully" Saddam Insane & Smith James & Jana (with manager "The Verbal Assassin" Gigalo Joe Jones). After being told for years to pick on someone their own size (which is hard when you weigh 400+ pounds each), La-Fu & Ra-Fu had opponents who matched them in size, and a hard-hitting match ensued in the ring, with no love lost between Niya and Jana as they pounded on each other as well. After several minutes of the smaller La-Fu being triple-teamed, the 550-pound Ra-Fu tagged in and cleaned house. As Niya chased Jana out of the ring and brawled with her on the floor, Ra-Fu crushed both Saddam and James in the corner with an Avalanche, and La-Fu hit a Vader-Bomb on James and pinned him 1-2-3. The Nightmares celebrated their victory by leading the crowd in a Conga Line dance all around the gym, and George "The Animal" Steele celebrated in his traditional way by feasting on a turnbuckle, as the show closed.
