NWS Results From Basking Ridge, NJ 8/22: WWE Hall Of Famer Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka Goes Airborne On Fellow WWE Alum Sal Sincere, NWS Title Matches, A Trio Of Bullies Face A Heroic American & Native American & Funny American, And Much More
A steady stream of new fans witnessed National Wrestling Superstars' action at the extremely air-conditioned St. James School Gym in Basking Ridge, NJ on Saturday night August 22nd. It was NWS' debut appearance in Basking Ridge, but by the end of the night the crowd was clamoring for more, with NWS assuring a return engagement in the November timeframe.
The fans also welcomed guest ring announcer, ABC News Copter 7 reporter John Del Giorno.
In the opening match, NWS Heavyweight Champion "Corrupted" Corey Havoc (with political and career advisor former WWE star Salvatore Sincere) retained his title against NWS Tag-Team Title co-holder and number-one contender Corvis Fear. Sal's presence at ringside made the difference in this match, and his interference allowed Havoc to retain the title. Commissioner Gino Moore was not amused, and ordered Sal banned from the building until his main event match under threat of instant fines and suspension.
In a Three-Way Dance for the number-one NWS Cruiserweight Title contender, J.D. Smoothie defeated Jumping Joey Janella and Chikara Wrestling star Frightmare. Smoothie and Janella initially teamed up to double-team Frightmare, but after working him over, Smoothie turned on Janella and took him out for the 1-2-3 pin.
In a Six-Man Tag-Team grudge match, former WWE & WCW star "America's Hero" The Patriot & Indian Chief Draven & The Famous TV Wrestling Clown (with special guest manager Chris Galloway) defeated The Baghdad Bullies (Saddam Insane & Evil T.N.T & Hasheem "Chemical" Ali, with manager King Ran-sid Akhbar Idu Stinq).
In a Title-for-Title rematch from the previous night, NWS Jersey Shore Champion "G.Q." Myke Quest and NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "Disco" Nicky Oceans fought to a time-limit draw. As in Union, NJ the previous night, the two competitors were evenly matched and could not put each other away before the time limit expired. Despite Quest and the crowd clamoring for five more minutes, Oceans asserted that he does not do overtime, and left the ring to the boos of the crowd.
Devine defeated The Illegal Outer Space Alien.
In the Main Event, WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka (with manager Chris Galloway) defeated former WWE bad boy Salvatore "Don't Call Me Pinky" Sincere (with manager King Ran-sid Akhbar Idu Stinq). With Galloway evening the odds and taking out King Stinq, Snuka thrilled the crowd and went airborne onto Sal for the pin, sending the crowd home happy.
NWS returns to action on Friday night September 18th with another "Wrestling Stars Under The Stars" outdoor show in Sayreville, NJ, featuring former WWE Headshrinkers member Samu, then their three shows as part of the annual Edison, NJ Fall Family Festival September 25th-26th, headlined by former WWE superstar George "The Animal" Steele.
Then on Saturday night October 3rd NWS returns to its always-sold-out Jersey Shore venue the Brick, NJ Elks Lodge, with former WWE Tag-Team Champions The Nasty Boys.
