NWS Results From "Rowan After Hours" Private Show At Rowan University In Glassboro, NJ 3/6: ECW Alum Balls Mahoney Vs. Danny Demanto In A Hardcore Main Event, Former ECW Zombie, The Rogue, Rob Eckos, A Three-Way Match With Chikara Wrestling Stars & More As NWS Shows It Can Do "After Hours" As Well

While National Wrestling Superstars is best known for being the nation's leader in family-themed pro wrestling entertainment, they can also play to the 18-and-over crowd, as was demonstrated on Friday night March 6th, when they presented their second annual "Rowan After Hours" show exclusively for the students and faculty at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. A good-sized and energetic Friday night college crowd filled the seats and lined the balconies around the Student Center "Pit" to be awed and entertained, and the lovely memebers of the Rowan University Cheerleading Squad graciously escorted the stars to the ring.
Rob Eckos (with his Team "Where's My Mirror" partner Nicky Oceans) defeated Kory Castle. This was a smooth opening match with the two ring veterans battling in and out of the ring. But the presence of Oceans was the deciding factor when, after Castle hit a Diamond-Cutter on Eckos and had him covered for a sure pin, Oceans distracted the referee from making the cover and secretly tossed Eckos his chain, which Eckos used to level Castle and get the three-count.
Hasheem "Chemical" Ali & Major Disaster (with "advisor" Danny Demanto & valet Brooke Carter) defeated former ECW'er The Zombie & The Rogue (with Rowan University's "The Bull" Bobby Bullard). The unpredictable styles of The Zombie and Rogue initially befuddled their opponents, but the size advantage of Ali and the 6-foot-plus Major Disaster won out in the end, as a crucifix slam by Ali on The Zombie sealed the 1-2-3 for his team.
Mighty Mikey Pacifica won by disqualification over Nicky Oceans (with "advisor" Danny Demanto & tag-team partner Rob Eckos). Demanto was ordered to leave ringside by Commissioner Gino Moore (after the two traded insults at each other). The two high-fliers took to the air and the mat and kept the fans on the edge of their seats. After hitting a sternum-cracker on Oceans, Mikey went to the top rope to finish Oceans off with a splash, but Demanto returned to the ringside area and shoved Mikey off the top rope, and the referee immediately called for the disqualification. Demanto, Oceans and Eckos attacked Mikey three-on-one in the ring, but were chased away by former ECW'er John "Balls" Mahoney, who was at the show signing autographs for the fans. Balls challenged Demanto to a Hardcore Match in the main event, and, despite Demanto's claims that he was only here tonight to be a manager, Commissioner Gino Moore was only too happy to make the match, and named Rowan's "The Bull" Bobby Bullard as Balls' manager for the evening.
In a Triple-Threat Match, Chikara Wrestling star & Rowan University student Golden Lynx defeated fellow Chikara stars Ophidian and Amasis. The fans were treated to a match with plenty of daredevil action, as these three high-fliers flew around the ring (and frequently off the ropes) at breakneck speeds that made many of the fans dizzy just watching them. In the end, Lynx hit a Shooting Star Press on Ophidian to get the 1-2-3.
In an Inter-Gender Tag-Team Match, NWS Cruiserweight Champion J.D. Smoothie & Roxxy Cotton defeated luchador Anotonio Malave & Miss April. The combined ego's of Smoothie and Roxxy caused trouble for the team throughout the match, and Malave and (especially) Miss April fought valiantly, but Smoothie's experience won out in the end, as he flattened Miss April with a flying legdrop and pinned her 1-2-3 to get the victory for his team.
In the Main Event, "The Cold-Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto (with valet Brooke Carter) defeated ECW alum John "Balls" Mahoney (with guest manager "The Bull" Bobby Bullard) in a Hardcore Match. The two hardcore icons tore into each other with raw hatred from the get-go. Balls wanted to start off with a straight wrestling match, but the hardcore element soon came into play, as Balls brought a pair of scissors into the ring to use on Demanto, but it was Demanto who ended up with the scissors and literally drew first blood on Balls. Demanto and Balls continued to punish each other, with Balls breaking up a superplex attempt by Demanto and hitting a flying splash, and Demanto doing a flying stomp onto Balls with a steel chair across his chest (which may have actually broken one of Balls' ribs). Balls hit a Nutcracker Suite piledriver onto a steel chair, and was all set to finish off Demanto with the aforementioned chair when Brooke Carter distracted Balls long enough for Demanto to recover and hit Balls with a moonsault off the top rope. Demanto then went up to the top rope with the chair to finish Balls off for good, but Balls seized Demanto and smashed him into the mat with a second Nutcracker Suite from the top rope. But Balls was too injured to capitalize on the pin attempt fast enough, and Demanto leveled Balls with a kick to the groin, and then rolled him up with a schoolboy roll, and putting his feet on the ropes for extra leverage without the ref seeing it, held Balls down for the 1-2-3. Balls refused to lose that way, and demanded five more minutes in the ring with Demanto, who refused. Balls challenged Demanto to a rematch the next time in Rowan, and noted that the three-story high "pit" was high enough to hold a steel cage. NWS management promised to make that return match, much to the delight of the fans in attendance.
NWS returns to regular action next Saturday night March 14th at the Point Pleasant Beach, NJ Elks Lodge, followed a week later on Saturday night March 21st at the Lacey Township High School Gym in Lanoka Harbor, NJ, and finishing up March at Long Branch, NJ's Seashore Arena/Gym on Friday night March 27th.
