…..

Wow! What a way to start a new year for America's wrestling company, National Wrestling Superstars.

This past Friday night at the Manvile VFW Hall in Manville, New Jersey, almost 400 fans packed the building  that also had reporters from local newspapers and New York's Channel 11 News there for all the action.  As a matter of fact, Channel 11 News did a live feed  and several lead-ins from the WWE Smackdown show.

The show started off on a somber note when NWS officials and all the wrestlers and staff appearing on the show surrounded ringside to give a final farewell 10 bell  salute to Scott "Bam Bam" Bigelow, who hours before the show passed away.

The opening contest saw Delaware loudmouth J.D. Smooth take on Puerto Rican sensation Antonio Malave.  This was a great opener as both wrestlers had their "A" game on and the fans roared with approval, especially when Malave hit the 916 (yes a reverse 619) on Smooth..  At the end Smooth cheated his way to victory, but both know they will meet again...this feud is far from over.

The second match saw the end of a feud as the American turn-coat, Evil TNT met former friend and tag team partner Rich "Ice Pick" Lowinski in a strap match.  This match was to be determined under "hardcore rules" and both TNT and Ice Pick took it to the limits, choking each other with the strap.  At the 10 minute mark, both wrestlers were going corner to corner, but before TNT could hit the 4th, Ice Pick pulled the strap and tripped up TNT, allowing him to leapfrog over TNT for the win.

Next saw the NWS tag champion, the Sychodelic Sissies (or as they call themselves, Sychodelic Studs), Ace Darling and Mr. Motion Shane Taylor take on Javiar (substituting for Bandido, Jr. who ran into a ton of traffic on Route 287) and Gil Quest.  Announced as a non-title match, Darling and Taylor told NWS officials that they would put the titles up against anyone and offered their opponents a shot at the titles.  And Javiar and Gil Quest almost wound up winning the belts, but the smarter veterans managed to get the win to retain their belts.

The next match saw WWE legend Brutus The Barber Beefcake take on Rocko Dorsey (with Sal Sincere). Dorsey told NWS officials that he wanted to challenge Beefcake after NWS learned that Beefcake's original opponent, Don Montoya did not make it to the building.  With Sincere at his side, he guaranteed a victory.  Maybe somebody should have had him put the "guarantee" in writing because not only did he lose, but would up with a haircut as well.  As Beefcake was cutting Dorsey's hair, Sincere brought out TNT from the back to double team Beefcake.  Ice Pick and Draven made the save and NWS officials signed a match between Beefcake and Sincere for Saturday's event in North Plainfield (visit www.nwswrestling.com for details).

After intermission, fans saw a return grudge match between Salvatore Sincere who promised to make short work of his opponent, Indian Chief Draven.  Draven must have brought half of his tribe with him because the fans were cheering "Draven, Draven" which upset Sincere. While he kept telling the fans to keep it quiet, Draven took it to the former WWE star and showed him that there is "strength in numbers" and the number of people who came to see him almost helped him score a victory over Sincere, but alas, Sincere used his cheating ways to squeeze out another victory.

The main event was a Ladders, Table and Chairs match between J-Cup semi-finalist Deranged, current NWS Junior Heavyweight champion Gavin Quest and former champion Corvis Fear.  The rules were simple...whoever could get a briefcase that was hanging above the ring would be the winner. To make things more interesting, NWS management put $1,000.00 (yes, one thousand-dollars) in cash inside the case.  All three wrestlers put on a 4 star match with bodies and equipment flying all over the place (this match alone makes buying the tape a must. Visit www.3countpromotions.com to order yours today)  With Deranged and Quest fighting each other Fear climbed the ladder and retrieved the suitcase for the win.  He then told NWS officials to "keep your money...I want a shot at the belt" and with that, NWS announced that next Friday night in Woodbridge at the Elks Lodge, Corvis Fear will get his wish and challenge Gavin Quest for the title (visit www.doubleplaytixx.com or call 732-888-1704 for tickets).
