NWS Seaside Heights, NJ 7/24 Results: Another Near-Capacity Crowd, Former WWE & ECW Icon Al Snow "Head"-lines, Former WCW Diva Gorgeous George Makes A Surprise Appearance, Two Former Junior Heavyweight Champions Have A Classic Match, And More From "Shore Wars 2008" Episode II

National Wrestling Superstars returned to Seaside Heights, NJ on Thursday night July 24th for the second in their four-show "Shore Wars 2008" Summer series at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Parish Hall. With the rain and thunder and lightning finally giving way to sunny weather, another near-capacity crowd filled Parish Hall for another hot night of action.

In a non-title match, Ryan Blackheart (with manager Ryan Maher & Maher's personal "bodyguard" Danny Demanto) defeated NWS NJ Heavyweight Champion Vicious Vinny. Both men were equally matched in size and power, but Vinny's experience was not enough to overcome the presence of Demanto and Maher at ringside, and after Maher tripped up Vinny coming off the ropes, Demanto snuck in and leveled Vinny with a lariat clothesline, allowing Blackheart to pin Vinny for the upset victory.

Nikko The Winged Monkey Man defeated Bobby Firehawk & The Great Garafolo in a Triple-Threat Match. The unorthodox Monkey Man from Oz proved himself in the ring, pinning Garafolo after a 619 and a flaying splash off the top rope.

The Inbred Hillbillies (Cletus & Cooter, with the Rubber Chicken) defeated NWS Cruiserweight Champion J.D. Smoothie & Nicky Oceans. The much larger Hillbillies out-powered Smoothie and Oceans for most of the match, but it was the Rubber Chicken that actually made the difference in the end, as Smoothie was whacked in the head with it, and the Chicken actually covered Smoothie and got the three-count.

Princess Jana (with Ryan Maher & Maher's personal "bodyguard" Danny Demanto) vs. Roxxie Cotton, with former WCW diva Gorgeous George as special referee, was declared a no-contest when, minutes into the match, Demanto and J.D. Smoothie attacked Roxxie and were chased away by former WWE & ECW hardcore icon Al Snow (and Head). Snow challenged Demanto to a one-on-one match in the main event, and despite Demanto claiming he didn't have his ring gear handy, Commissioner Gino Moore (who was at ringside the entire match to "observe" referee Gorgeous George) signed the match.

In a battle of former NWS Junior Heavyweight Champions, Corvis Fear and Myke "G.Q." Quest fought to a ten-minute time-limit draw. Both men, who had been in classic battles before, were returning to NWS action after long absences, and had another classic confrontation that had the fans on the edge of their seats for the entire match. In the end, Quest slapped on a crossface submission, but before Corvis tapped out the bell had already rung indicating the time limit was up. The fans chanted "five more minutes", and NWS officials promised that these two warriors would meet again soon.

Former WWE & ECW hardcore Icon Al Snow (with Head) defeated Danny Demanto (with Ryan Maher). Referee Sergeant Jimmy Storm spent several minutes trying to get Head out of the ring and Demanto in the ring, but the match finally got under way, and the fans were treated to a barrage of heavy hitting from two seasoned brawlers. Demanto actually brought Head into the ring and was prepared to crush it with his foot when Snow speared Demanto, then eventually leveled Demanto with a "Head Shot", covering him for the three count and sending the fans home happy.

NWS continues their four-show weekend blitz on Friday night July 25th at 7:45pm at the Middletown, NJ VFW Hall, then on Saturday night July 26th at 8:00pm with NWS' annual outdoor show at Long Branch, NJ's Italian-American Memorial Association Showgrounds, and concludes on Sunday afternoon July 27th at 3:30pm as NWS joins up with their Delaware affiliate Funkdafied Wrestling Federation at the Christiana, DE Fire Company Memorial Hall.
