Once, Twice, Three Times in a row, National Wrestling Superstars has turned crowds away from their events, the latest was last night's show at the Union Knights of Columbus Hall where people choose to stand rather than leave to catch the hottest indy wrestling anywhere, National Wrestling Superstars
Match #1
Nick Talent made his NWS debut taking on the high flying Luchador Manual "Manny" Moore. These two battled in and out of the ring before Talent, with the help of a handful of tights, pulled off a victory.
Before the start of Match #2, Danny Demanto and Kevin Matthews made their way to the ring with a folder and ordered Commissioner Gino Moore to come to the ring. Danny showed the Commissioner that he had completed his paperwork and he was now an official referee in the State of New Jersey. He also reminded NWS officials that they told him once he had his license, he could referee at least once a month at an NWS event and tonight was his night because not only was he going to wrestle and defeat Hacksaw Jim Duggan but was going to referee the tag match between the Nigerian Nightmares and their hapless opponents.
Match #2
NWS Cruiserweight champion Joe Janela took on former champion J.D. Smooth. These two battled for 10 minutes before the time limite expired and Janela retained his title. Janela, incensed that he didn't come away with the victory asked fans if they wanted 5 more minutes but Smooth told the fans that they don't pay him enough for 5 more minutes and left

Big Man Tag Team Match with Justin Blackwell and Mister Nick Gregory taking on Corey Havoc (filling in for a missing Bryan Harley) and Major Disaster. This battle was all over the building and it looked like the team of Disaster and Havoc would score the win, but somehow, Blackwell and Gregory scored the win to upset their opponents. The pair celebrated in the ring with a country ho-down dance.

The Nighterian Nightmares took on Steve "Little Gipper" Gipke and Too Hot Steve Scott with their manager Anthony Scorase (who was scheduled to appear but suffered a concussion earlier in the week). With special referee Danny Demanto, the Nightmare's opponents were at their mercy and Gipke, who was making his pro debut took a beating from both big men, the manager and even the referee before the match was over after nearly 10 minutes. But the beatings didn't stop at Demanto made it 3 on 2 after the match before Scoreate ran to the back and brought out WWE Universe star Hacksaw Jim Duggan out for the save, who cleared the ring.

After intermission, fans saw a battle between two of the top tag teams on the east coast with Team Commando taking on the Jock Mafia. These teams had fans on the edges of their seats and reminded fans what tag team wrestling was all about with high flying moves, team-work and a little cheating behind the referee's back. After nearly 12 minutes, Oceans pinned D'Andrea of the Jock Mafia but fans pointed out to referee Jimmy Storm that he used a weapon. Storm searched Oceans and the weapon popped out of his arm pad and Storm revered the decision giving the win to the Jock Mafia

The main event saw Hacksaw Jim Duggan with his manager from the Knights Robert Salvatore take on Danny Demanto. Demanto, who didn't like the odds with the manager on the outside, brought out his own manager, from the Nigerian Nightmares Princess Sheeta who intimidated fans with her antics at ringside. Danny, who has come into his own of late gave Duggan more of a battle than he expected and at 3 points in the match, look like he was going to pin the legendary Duggan, but at the end, Hacksaw scored the win and the pin, sending the fans home happy

NWS Results From Edison, NJ 2/6 - NWS Doesn't Let A Little Snow Keep Them Away & Neither Did The Fans: WWE Star "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan & Former ECW Zombie Team Up Against Danny Demanto & Kevin Matthews, Four Way Ladders-Tables-And-Chairs Match, J-Cup Tag-Team Tournament Qualifier Match, NWS Cruiserweight Title Match & More
Despite the snowstorm cancelling shows left and right, the Northeast's busiest wrestling promotion National Wrestling Superstars wasn't about to let the fans down, and the show went on Saturday night February 6th at Edison, NJ's St. Matthews School Gym. And even though after opening the year with three sellout shows, it took Mother Nature to break that streak, Nonetheless 200 souls braved the elements to watch and cheer on the action.
Before the first match, Team Commando (former WWE developmental protege "Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews & "The Cold-Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto) came to the ring, carrying the head of St. Matthews' mascot Matty The Leprechaun. They claimed that they had destroyed Matty backstage, and then called St. Matthews Athletic Director Darren Venture into the ring. When Demanto and Matthews asked for a ten-bell salute to the mascot, Venture tried to stop them, only to be attacked by Demanto and Matthews. Security swarmed the ring and broke apart the melee and helped Venture to safety.
In the opening contest, NWS Cruiserweight Champion Jumping Joey Janella (with bodyguards "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie & J.T. Highlander) retained his title against Ryan Rumble. Smoothie, a former Cruiserweight Champion himself, claimed to be in Janella's corner to make sure that Janella stayed champion just long enough for Smoothie to get his rematch. Rumble, however, had his own plans for the title, and took the fight to Janella, keeping the match even and the fans thrilled. After a flying crescent kick and a hurricanrana, Rumble appeared to be on the verge of winning, when Highlander distracted the referee and Smoothie snuck in and leveled Rumble with a boot to the face. Janella covered Rumble for the 1-2-3 to retain his title.
The Nigerian Nightmares (with manager Voodoo Princess Sheeda) crushed the team of "The White Urkel" B. Fehrm & The Illegal Outer Space Alien. This was hardly a match, as the 800+ pound Nightmares, still undefeated in NWS, completely had their way with the Alien and Fehrm. Despite bravely facing down two opponents each of whom outweighed him three to one, Fehrm was flattened by a fallway slam from the top rope, and had what little life was left in him crushed by a Tower of Doom superplex by the Nighmares, which was followed by the merciful 1-2-3.
The former ECW Zombie won by disqualification against former WWE developmental protege "Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews (with Danny Demanto). The two big men initially brawled inside and outside the ring, but only minutes into the match, after Zombie hit a double underhook suplex on Matthews and appeared ready to pin him, Demanto jumped into the ring and attacked Zombie, prompting the quick disqualification. Matthews and Demanto continued to beat on Zombie until WWE superstar "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan ran down to the ring, two-by-four in hand, to make the save. Commissioner Moore was not about to let the match end so quickly and let Matthews and Demanto go home so quickly, and ordered that Matthews and Demanto would face Duggan and The Zombie later in the evening.
In a J-Cup Tag-Team Tournament Qualifying Match, The BS Express defeated "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie & J.T. Highlander. Despite the Express being the crowd favorites, Smoothie and Highlander were no slouches with respect to tag-team action, and showed that they wanted to compete in the tournament as well. After a tough fight, Smoothie and Highlander attempted to double-team one of the Express, but when Smoothie went to the top rope to deliver a flying leg drop, Ryan Rumble ran out from the back and knocked Smoothie off. (Payback is a you-know-what!) The Express planted Smoothie into the mat with a double facebuster, and pinned him 1-2-3 to advance to the tournament.
In the first of the two main event matches, WWE superstar "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan & the former ECW Zombie defeated The Commandos (former WWE developmental protege "Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews & "The Cold-Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto). After unsuccessfully attempting to out-brawl Duggan and Zombie, Demanto and Matthews kept Zombie in their corner and tried to wear him down with double-team tactics. But after Demanto missed a moonsault, Zombie tagged in Duggan who cleaned house and leveled both Demanto and Matthews with his running tackle, which was followed by a three-count and victory for Duggan and Zombie. As Demanto was hurling abuse at Commissioner Moore for forcing him into the match, Darren Venture snuck up behind Demanto and leveled him with Matty The Leprechaun's head, and did the same to Matthews when he tried to charge Venture.
In the other main event match, NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans won a Ladders-Tables-And-Chairs Match over NWS Jersey Shore Champion "G.Q." Myke Quest, NWS Tag-Team Champion Corvis Fear, and Chikara Wrestling star Frightmare, for a gauranteed title shot contract. The fans were thrilled on the edge of their seats for the entire match, as all four men flew around inside and outside the ring, leveling each other with chair and ladder shots. After multiple attempts by all wrestlers to climb the ladder and retrieve the contract, Fear took out Frightmare with a chair shot, Quest piledrove Fear from the ring apron through a table on the outside, and Oceans took advantage and climbed the ladder to retrieve the contract.
NWS returns to action in two weeks with a huge double show weekend beginning Friday night February 19th at the Woodbridge, NJ Elks Lodge with the 2010 J-Cup Tag-Team Tournament (which will be re-christened as the Captain Lou Albano Memorial J-Cup Tag-Team Tournament), followed by Saturday night February 20th with their annual mega-show at the Bloomfield, NJ High School Gym headlined by former WWE stars Nunzio and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan and the original WWE diva Sunny.
