NWS Weekly Internet News Update

Third-Generation Superstar Makes NWS Debut, Remaining J-Cup Field Announced, Friction Between The Tag-Team Champions, More August Show Details, And More

Hello NWS fans! This is your weekly update on what's happened, what is happening now, and what is going to happen soon in the nation's leading family-friendly pro wrestling promotion, National Wrestling Superstars.

Upcoming Shows This Weekend

Saturday night August 6th, NWS returns to the Bayshore area of New Jersey at Keansburg, NJ's New Point Comfort Fire Company Hall (192 Carr Avenue, minutes from Route 36 and the Keansburg Amusement Pier) for the 2011 Chris Candido Memorial J-Cup Tournament.

Twelve of the top cruiserweight and middleweight and junior heavyweight pro wrestlers on the circuit today, along with former ECW and TNA star Tommy Dreamer, will headline one of the biggest pro wrestling shows of the year.

The J-Cup Tournament began in 2000, under the auspices of the now-defunct Jercey Championship Wrestling, as an event to showcase the best junior heavyweights and middleweights and cruiserweights on the circuit today. Former WWE and TNA stars such as Kaval and Jay Lethal have won the J-Cup and gone on to fame and fortune.

In 2005, the rights to the J-Cup Tournament were acquired by northeast wrestling promotion National Pro Wrestling Superstars, who renamed the tournament in honor of their late friend, former ECW and WWE and TNA superstar Chris Candido, who had tragically passed away days before the 2005 tournament.

On that night, twelve competitors will vye for the coveted J-Cup Trophy in a one-night single-elimination tournament. So far, nine competitors have been announced: Current CZW Champion Devon Moore, Johnny Knockout, NWS Jersey Shore Champion The Jersey Kidd, ACE Wrestling's Mike Donovan, IWF Wrestling star Chris Steeler, NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans, The Jersey Shore Jocks, Mike Dennis and Chris D'Andrea, wrestling as individual competitors, and former multiple-time Cruiserweight Champion "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smooth.

The final three stars joining the field for this will be area stars "Too Hot" Steve Scott and Nick Talent, and a mystery competitor who will be announced the night of the show.
But fans of heavyweight wrestling will not be left out either. Thirteen of NWS' top heavyweights will be competing in a "Baker's Dozen Battle Royal", and the prize will not be a trophy or a title... but a match against the aforementioned Tommy Dreamer later that same night. And this Battle Royal will be referee'd by none other than Chris Candido's younger brother, a former NWS Hardcore Champion himself, Johnny Candido.

Tickets are only $20 for adults and $18 for kids and seniors.
Tickets are available by calling the NWS box office at (732) 888-1704. All major charge cards are accepted, and group rates are available for groups of ten or more. Remaining seats, if any, will go on sale at the door one hour before bell time.

Other Upcoming Shows

Friday night August 19th, NWS returns to Essex County at the Belleville, NJ Knights Of Columbus Hall (98 Bridge Street, just off Belleville Avenue, minutes from the Parkway and Route 21) with a 7:45pm bell time.
And this hot summer night will be headlined by a true wrestling legend, a former tag-team champion, a Hall-of-Famer, and recently still on WWE TV, the one and only "Mr. U.S.A." Tony Atlas.

Also on the bill will be an NWS Heavyweight Title showdown, as current champion "Rampage" Rogers takes on former champion and south Jersey native Ray Ray Marz. The NWS Tag-Team Titles will also be on the line, as the popular champions originally from Union, The Jersey Shore Jocks (Mike Dennis & Chris D'Andrea) have a date with the dangerous duo known as Team Casanova ("The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans & Damian Darling). Plus, NWS Hardcore Champion "Corrupted" Corey Havoc and NWS Jersey Shore Champion The Jersey Kidd are scheduled to make title defenses that night too. Tickets are only $19 for adults and $17 for kids and seniors.

Saturday night August 20th, NWS returns after a long absence to the Asbury Park, NJ area at the V.F.W. Post 1333 Hall (701 Lake Avenue, just off Main Street/Route 71), with a 7:35pm bell time.
It's been many years since NWS visited the Jersey Shore's original playground Asbury Park, and headlining this long-awaited return will be an encore appearance by WWE Hall-of-Fame alum "Mr. U.S.A." Tony Atlas.

And what visit to the Jersey Shore would be complete without Seaside Heights residents and NWS Tag-Team Champions The Jersey Shore Jocks (Mike Dennis & Chris D'Andrea).

And while we're still talking about Jersey Shore favorites, the newly-crowned NWS Jersey Shore Champion The Jersey Kidd himself will also be in Asbury Park, plus NWS Hardcore Champion "Corrupted" Corey Havoc, NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans, the popular "Atomic Dog" Ali, international superstar Danny Inferno, The New Nigerian Nightmares, and much more, including guest manager Alex Pinnix.
Tickets are only $19 for adults and $17 for kids and seniors.

Tickets for all upcoming shows are available by calling the NWS box office at (732) 888-1704. All major charge cards are accepted, and group rates are available for groups of ten or more.
