100 Fans were turned away…..

OHIO VALLEY WRESTLING  SPOILERS --
By Tabby Miller

OVW drew probably its biggest crowd to the Davis Arena as spring break took over Louisville and if you didn't get there early, you weren't getting in. Large turnaway crowd. After the show, I got Al Snow to sign an old photo of when he was wrestling Big Bossman in WWF, and Al said he heard a hundred people were turned away.

This was a great television taping, and a lot happened. Maybe everyone is still riding that Wrestlemania wave. Maybe it was the really hot crowd, or Paul Heyman is turning up the heat even higher in Louisville. Whatever the cause, this was one of the most intense tapings I've been to.

Dark Match: Boris The Russian beat 1 of The Neighborhoodies by Tap Out submission. Boris is now doing an MMA gimmick, and is very good.

Dark Match: Mikey Batts and Ryan Reeves beat Russell Simpson and Chad, formerly Chad Wicks, Chad Tolland, and Chad Dick. 1 minute into the match, Tank Tolland came out and tried to get his hands on Chad, and the referees had to come out and drag Tank away. Very powerful, everyone going just crazy.

The television show started with Maria in the locker room with Osama Rodriguez Alejandro, who was just called Big Lalo. Either Osama has laryngitis or they're doing some angle, but he whispered the whole promo into Maria's ear and she repeated everything he said, even the now world famous Hah Hahs. They promoted the fact Big Lalo survived an assassination attempt by "Nature Bendejo Ric Flair," and then hyped up the fact The Spirit Squad won the Raw World Tag Team Titles. Tonight, their first title defense anywhere, and it's in a First Time Ever "Risk Factor" Match. Spirit Squad put up the World Tag Team Titles versus Deuce and Domino's OVW Southern Tag Team Titles versus KC James and Roadkill, who have to split up if they lose. One Fall, title unification possible. They also promoted Beth vs Trinity, which got a huge pop. Great promo by Maria and Lalo.

1st TV Match: OVW Television Champion Seth Skyfire NC The Miz. Very interesting babyface vs babyface match. The crowd was really split on this one, and not just the OVW amateurs. Great match. They traded some high flying, and then Idol Stevens came out and trashed Seth Skyfire's girlfriend on the mic. Idol said, "You look like a tramp, you dress like a tramp, and from five feet away, you even smell like a tramp!" Skyfire jumped Idol, but Idol hit the Idolizer on the floor. Miz then jumped Idol and sent him running away. Miz then went back, but asked Skyfire's girlfriend if she was ok without checking on Skyfire. Great way to start the tv show. Interesting where Heyman takes this story from here.

We go to the back, and Idol Stevens cuts an amazing promo about being the new standard bearer in wrestling, and how Wrestlemania's promotion was really to hype up his rising star. Idol then proclaimed himself to be "Mister Big Time," which I guess is his new name. This was Stevens's best promo ever. And there's more to come, too.

We go to Maria, who comments on "Mister Big Time," and then attempts to get an interview with Beth Phoenix about her match tonight with Trinity. But Sosay answers the door, and tells Maria to buzz off. Maria pie-faces Sosay back into the locker room, and shuts the door on Sosay. But then CM Punk walks by and goes into Brent Albright's locker room. Albright dares Punk to step up to the champ, and when  Punk goes for Albright, the big man Titus gets in Punk's way. This was a hot confrontation, ending when Punk bitch slapped Titus and challenged him to meet him in the ring. The slap was simply brutal.

2nd TV Match: CM Punk forced Titus to tap out to the Anaconda Vise, but not before taking some heavy blows. Titus looked like he was beating the crap out of Punk. Very stiff Japanese style match. Punk got the tap out submission, but then Albright attacked. They slugged it out, with everyone going nuts. Albright hit a low blow, and then viciously whipped Punk with the leather strap until the referees pulled Albright out of then ring. I could see the big red welts on Punk's back after the beating.

Backstage, Maria tried to get a word with the doctor about Punk, but Albright grabbed her and pinned her up against the wall. Albright cut the best promo of his career, which seems to be the theme of the night, and told Maria that she should tell Punk that Albright is ready, and will bring the strap with him. Maria was great in the promo, crying because Albright was so intimidating. People really hated Albright for his treatment of Maria. Even though this was airing on the screen, people were chanting "Albright sucks" after the interview.

3rd TV Match: Beth Phoenix pinned Trinity after Trinity missed a wild dive to the outside, and Beth hit a Michinoku Driver on the half-conscious Trinity off the second rope. Awesome finish to a really good womens match. Beth is getting the monster push from Heyman. Trinity got a standing ovation when she was helped out by the referees and the doctor. She deserved it.

4th TV Match: KC James and Roadkill won the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles in the First Ever Risk Factor Match. Roadkill pinned Deuce to win the titles. Kenny and Mikey were great in this match, jumping in and out of the ring. Pretty crazy 15 minute match. When it was over, all 5 members of the Spirit Squad beat then hell out of KC and Roadkill. Then Elijah Burke ran in and cleaned house until they beat him up too with the Spirit Squad thingy they did to Big Show to win the titles on Raw. Deuce and Domino just stood there and didn't help KC and Roadkill. Great match, even better angle afterwards.

Dark Match: The Highlanders, who are huge babyfaces, defeated Robbie Dawber and Pat Buck, who is getting a following as a cult favorite heel in the Davis Arena.

Dark Match: Chet The Jet pinned Jack Bull in a short but fun match.

If you want to come to next Wednesday's television tapings, come early. Wednesdays are hot at the Davis Arena right now. Directions to the arena, and information on how to buy the DVD's of the tv shows, are available on OVW's website, which is www.ovwrestling.com.
