OVW TV REVIEW with Jeter vs Cappotelli
Report by Eric Hall of Louisville, Kentucky

The most anticipated OVW Title in history was aired in its entirety with absolutely no commercial interruptions on Saturday Night (October 29) as Johnny Jeter, in a shocking upset, successfully defended the title against his former "Thrillseeker" partner Matt Cappotelli thanks to the interference of WWE Smackdown's Misterrrrrrrrrrrr Kennedy.

This show was taped in front of a turnaway crowd at the New Davis Arena in Louisville, Kentucky just 3 days earlier. I have never seen a turnaway crowd at the New Davis Arena before. I was one of the last to get in, and had to sit near the concession stand.

The show opened right at the announcer's desk as Dean Hill and Al Snow are there and hyped up about the show. It's the biggest title match OVW has ever presented, and we're bringing it to you on this very show!

ELIJAH BURKE PINNED DOUG BASHAM (w/ Miles Green). Good way to start the show. Total blowoff match. Elijah looked strong. Finish was Basham going for the Cradle DDT off the top rope, but Elijah knocked him back and hit The Experience from the top rope. Nice looking finish.

We cut backstage and find WWE Monday Night Raw's Maria talking about the Jeter vs Cappotelli title match, and believe it or not, Maria says, "I'm so excited, there's a puddle underneath me!" Sosay walks on screen, and both Maria and Sosay are wearing the same outfit. Very funny visual. Sosay, who is Ken Doane's valet, says Maria is dressed like a tramp. Maria hits another great line and says, "I thought I was stupid, but....." Sosay asks what Maria is going to do about it, and Maria forcibly puts the microphone into Sosay's chest and says "I'm headed out to the ring, and I'll meet you there!"

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW'S MARIA NO CONTEST WITH SOSAY WHEN KEN DOANE AND BOBBY LASHLEY GET INVOLVED. A much better than expected cat fight with both women ripping each other's dresses off. Maria is going for the bronco buster when Doane appears and grabs Maria by the hair. Bobby Lashley runs into the ring and spears Doane violently. Doane and Sosay retreat to the arena floor as Lashley stares down Doane from inside the ring. This was a by-the-numbers angle, but very exciting.

We return to the desk, where Dean Hill announces that next week on OVW, it's one-on-one for the OVW TV Title, Ken Doane vs Bobby Lashley.

BRENT ALBRIGHT PINNED C.M. PUNK, BUT THE STORY OF THE MATCH WAS CLEARLY PUNK AND NOT ALBRIGHT.   Excellent match to say the least. Albright offers a handshake before the match but Punk refuses. Lots of back and forth wrestling, really good wrestling between the two. Punk slapped Albright and started to brawl with him. Knife edge chops and punches by Punk. Albright locks in the crowbar, but shockingly Punk reverses it. Albright tries to roll through, but Punk holds on several times. Finally, with no way to escape, Albright is forced to reach the ropes. They continue, with Punk clearly dominating. Albright gets Punk into position for the German Suplexes, and hits a three quarter nelson suplex, with Punk's head crashing into the canvas. Albright gets the victory via pinfall, but with Punk escaping the Crowbar and dominating the match, the attention was on Punk and this feud has just begun.

There's a short video package on Jeter and Cappotelli. This is as good as a video package I've seen in OVW. It starts with Johnny Jeter, only half of his face, and he says "I am Johnny Jeter." Then you see the other side of Matt Cappotelli's face, and he says, "I am Matt Cappotelli." Then you see both their faces, turning towards the camera, looking straight on, and in various poses, as if you're reading their minds. They both say, "I am the true Thrillseeker,"  "I am better than my former partner,"  and "tonight, I will leave the OVW Champion," with both their voices matched up so they are saying it at the same time. Great video.

We open the second half of the show with Dean Hill and Al Snow at the desk. Dean says, "all commercial breaks have been waived. Extra time has been granted in case we go long. We're on the air, without interruption, until this match is concluded!"

Inside the ring, the ring is filled with referees right down the middle of the ring. Jeter and Cappotelli will not get to each other until the one referee assigned to the match rings the bell. Jeter comes out first with the belt. Cappotelli is next, and the buzz is hot. They are trying to get to each other, but the wall of referees keep them separated. The referees exit two at a time from opposite sides of the ring, and referee Goose Mahoney rings the bell. After all this time, after all of Heyman's booking, after all the angles, promos, and speculation, it's on.

JOHNNY JETER DEFENDED THE OVW TITLE AGAINST FORMER "THRILLSEEKER" PARTNER MATT CAPPOTELLI AFTER INTERFERENCE FROM MR. KENNEDY IN A 20+ MINUTE CLASSIC BRAWL.  This was a fight from the get go. They ran towards each other, and locked horns like rams on The Animal Planet, and immediately Cappotelli started throwing punches left and right. Jeter acted like a man who knew he was in the fight of his life. Huge crowd heat for Cappotelli's return. Lots of Jeter fans too.  Jeter kept trying to get to Cappotelli's leg. Spot of the night goes to Jeter who applied a full Boston Crab on the top rope. Totally cool spot that was like Jericho using The Walls on the top of a ladder.  Cappotelli kept out wrestling and out fighting Jeter at every turn. At one point, Jeter begs forgiveness, and Cappotelli helps Jeter up and brushes him off, and the two hug to everyone's shock. But Cappotelli levels Jeter with a clothesline and starts pounding on him in a great moment.  Jeter locked in a Texas Cloverleaf,. Cappotelli hit a sweet looking enzuigiri. Finally, Jeter hits a picture perfect superkick, and it's all over. But NO! Cappotelli kicks out of the superkick. Finally, Cappotelli is holding his injured leg, trying to make sure it doesn't give out on him now, and hits his own superkick on Jeter. It has to be over here. Goose Mahoney slides down. 1. 2. Then, a big surprise. Although he is no longer in OVW, Mr. Kennedy pulls the referee out of the ring. Where did he come  from? Cappotelli has Jeter covered. He gets off Jeter and hits a plancha on both Kennedy and the referee. Cappotelli and Kennedy start to brawl. Kennedy gets the title belt and throws it to Jeter. Cappotelli creams Kennedy with a superkick. Cappotelli gets back in the ring, where Jeter takes a homerun swing with the title belt. Cappotelli ducks, but Jeter hits a low blow. Cappotelli is doubled over. Jeter knocks Cappotelli out with the title belt after all. Jeter gets rid of the evidence, and covers Cappotelli. 1. 2. 3. Dean Hill, who is also the ring announcer from the desk, announces Jeter as "winner and still champion" with a lot of disgust in his voice as Kennedy and Jeter celebrate over the fallen Cappotelli in the ring. A 20+ minute classic match, by all means worth the wait and it lived up to expectations.
