Wrestling During the Pandemic

“Health came first for the executives at Ring of Honor.” “We’re very authentic about our product.” Going “back to the pure wrestling was a very smart move.” “It’s the hardest thing about wrestling in front of no fans. Very often we feed off of the fans’ reactions.”

“I was not for it (putting together some matches after show cancellations), I thought the risk of injuries was higher because you don’t really feed off of the crowd.”

“You have to be very creative…to be ready any time when anything might happen, like a show.” “There’s no excuses not to be ready.” “It’s part of the job to find those places (to help stay ready).”

The Evolution of Wrestling

“My presence is to lead by example…try to treat everyone with the same respect, if you are a referee or if you are helping out building up the ring.” “No one is more important than any of the other guys.”

“The key thing is to adapt to the new style of wrestling and fit in with those guys…and to just have that mindset of where the main thing is to tell a great story.”

“If you want to cheer for someone, you cheer for this guy. But if you like the other guy better, you cheer for the other guy.” “Anybody can be a star.” “When I broke into that business, you could never be a world champion as a babyface because you’re from Quebec and I thought, ‘This is ridiculous.’”

Career Highlights

“I had great runs when I was younger, but I was very immature and had a lack of wisdom, maturity and experience.”

“My latest run, until now, I’m having a great time and I’ve been able to enjoy every single second of it.” “Now my life is my barometer of happiness and it just makes my career better. It’s totally opposite of what it was.”

“It (his entrance at the G1 Supercard) was the most awesome entrance of my career and probably one of the top entrances ever.” “It was a rollercoaster of emotions and that’s what you need in wrestling.”

“Winning the tag titles with WWE was a pretty high up adrenaline night but nothing compared to the Madison Square Garden show…It was the entrance I always dreamed about and the moment that I wanted.”

“Every failure, setback and disappointment made it all worth it in the end.”

“I have to lift my hat to Ring of Honor, because every single wrestler had stayed for the main event which is very rare. Every executive, the president, the vice president, the booker, every single wrestler that was on that card…everybody when I came back through that curtain…a standing ovation from all the boys.”
