Also talk about “no shows”… Get Some help!

Hey

I checked out the Powerhouse Wrestling show in Worcester MA on 4-26-08.
It was to be a Hardcore Homecoming event that was to have:

Sabu, The Sandman, Justin Credible, Jason Knight, Danny Doring, Dawn
Marie and Tammy Lynn Sytch.

Originally the Fan Fest was to be prior to the 7 pm start time.  Fan Fest
5:30-7 pm.  That got bumped to 6 if you had $35/$25 tickets and 6:30 if you
had $15 tickets.

No wrestlers signed at any point between 6-7pm.

The first sign of ECW wrestlers coming out was at 7pm. The Sandman and
Justin Credible kicked their tables to sign and meet fans.

The Sandman was cool to meet - yet I gather he was a little tipsy during the
session. Glad to see he's doing all right.

Justin Credible had his table set up next to Ron Zombie.  Both were nice.
Chatting with both about music i.e New England Metal Fest and etc. Good to
reminisce with those two guys.

Later on about 10 min after Justin and Sandman came out - Dawn Marie and
Tammy Lynn Sytch came out.  They were being sponsored by a local business.
You could not take pictures of either one of them with your camera.

If you wanted a picture with them or of them you had to pay a fee. There
was a digital camera/digital printer that was a interesting yet nice set
up to pose with a Diva and have them sign that. A decent amount of
people took advantage of that set up.

Dawn and Tammy are wonderful ladies and they were nice to meet and speak
to for a few minutes. Tammy's sister was at the show, she was the one
taking digital camera shots of people who posed with Tammy.  I found this
out during a conversation with Tammy who stated that they were sisters.
Good to know.  Everyone was approachable.

I didn't see Jason Knight, Danny Doring or Sabu come out. There was
rumblings that Doring had an injury and was not coming and that Sabu had
flight type issues and was not coming either. There was no sign or
announcement made to alert people of this.

The show started late and there was an intermission half way through. At
that point, it was pretty much confirmed that Sabu and Doring were not
there because they were not even at the intermission autograph/Polaroid's
session.

Jason Knight came out at intermission and he was part of the show earlier
in the night. He was cool with fans also-discussing ECW memories, etc.

When it came to Sabu's scheduled match - he was replaced by Matt Hyson aka
Spike Dudley.

I could hear in one section there was a small crowd chanting "refund,
refund" because they paid a good amount of money just to see Sabu. There
were a lot of kids holding Sabu signs and I met a family - one child about
8, who really wanted to see Sabu and have one of his figures signed.
I feel bad knowing that he did not get that chance this night. I don't
know if he ever will.

For me, this is the second "star" that did not show up for whatever reason
In March in Danbury CT, the Sandman didn't make his appearance
and no one knew why. Now, here in Worcester MA, Sabu did not appear.

I kinda wished promoters would make a clear announcement that the main
event or the big star is not coming and if there is an replacement just tell
everyone so they don't leave disappointed and not respect the show/company.

Thanks,   R.H

First I want to thank R.H. for his write up.

Secondly, I would like to say that the wrestling promoters need to make the
announcement of stars not appearing at the beginning of the show.

I was very good friends with Sabu when I used to attend all the ECW shows,
we became close.  It appears that Sabu has some demons again, and therefore
promoters at this time, should not try to book him.  He has now no-showed a bunch of
shows or signing appearances.  It saddens me to have to write this, but the promoter
is stuck paying the airfare and then "a no show" happens, disappointing all the fans.
It doesn't look good for the federation and leaves a bad taste in the mouth of the fans.

I wish Sabu would take advantage of Vince McMahon's offer of rehab. at the company's
expense.   I say this out of love for a good friend.
It appears that it has helped Jake Roberts, at least for now.

Mike Johnson informed me that Danny Doring was definitely hurt.  He told the federation a week ago, he couldn't make it, he separated his shoulder.
