Diamond Dallas Page is missing his Halloween cat, and he's not happy about it.
The former pro wrestler, best known in Utah for joining Karl Malone for a 1998 tag-team match vs. Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman, shares custody with ex-wife Kimberly of a black cat named Spooki. Kimberly and Spooki live near 2100 S. Parley's Way in Salt Lake City or at least they did until Oct. 15, when Spooki slipped out a screen door and disappeared.
Spooki, so named because the Pages adopted her 15 years ago around Halloween, wasn't wearing a collar. But the Persian mix has a distinctive silver patch on her back.
"You can't miss this cat," says Diamond Dallas by phone from his home in Los Angeles. "She looks like Pepé Le Pew."
The Pages split up three years ago but remain on good enough terms that Spooki goes back and forth between them. Diamond Dallas calls Spooki his "Halloween cat," or sometimes his "custody cat." As in joint custody, I guess.
Now Kimberly Page is plastering her neighborhood with flyers and searching animal shelters in the hope that Spooki turns up. Diamond Dallas is offering a $500 reward for her safe return and even promises to fly to Utah to personally thank whoever finds Spooki.
"I'll take 'em to lunch," he says. "I just want my cat back. I love that cat."
The Pages hope a kind neighbor has taken Spooki in and will return her once they realize the cat belongs to someone. So if you're reading this and you know where Spooki is, I suggest you call Kimberly right away. Do you want Diamond Dallas Page, a large muscular man with a signature wrestling move called the "Diamond Cutter," to be angry with you? No, you don't.
When it comes to his beloved Spooki, though, fearsome Diamond Dallas sounds like, well, a pussycat.
"As big and tough as everyone thinks he is, he cried like a baby when I was getting ready to move [to Utah]," says Kimberly, a marketing executive. "And it wasn't because I was leaving."
