Review of Raw from Sacramento

RAW opening

We are live on the 4th of July in Sacramento, California.

Our hosts are Jim Ross, Jonathan Coachman, and Jerry Lawler.

We start off with Carlito's Cabana, which has a spiffy new graphic. Carlito plugs Hogan's new show on VH1, and it's all about Hogan interrogating Brooke's would-be boyfriend. oh man, I'd love Carlito if he made a comment about Brooke. Hogan comes out, and Carlito does just what I suggested. <3. Hogan disposes of Carlito, and we are suddenly joined by Kurt Angle. He insults HBK, and then turns to Hogan and gives his own comment about Brooke. Ha! Anyway the heels beat down Hogan until HBK makes the save.

Todd Grisham is outside Bischoff's locker room. Scentillating.

Edge and Snitky vs. Kane and Big Show
Hey, remember when Kane and Show teamed up at Vengeance 2001 against the Dudleys? Neither do I. King reminds us it's been two years since Kane set J on fire. Man, it feels like yesterday. Kane and Snitsky start, but Kane tagkes over and tags in Show.He gets some clotheslines, and Lita interfers, which prompts Kane to chase her away as we go to commercial. We return with Snitsky working over Big Show's leg. Edge and Snitsjy take turns beating on the leg. Snitsky and Edge get a nice dobule shoulder block for two. They go for a double suplex, but Show reverses it for his own. He tags in Kane, who cleans house. Kane gets the sidewalk slam and flying clothesline. Various shenanigans occur, and Kane chokeslams Snitsky for the pin. Suprisingly good tag match, mostly due to the hot crowd. **1/2

We see a small graphic telling us Kane will be on the Highlight Reel.

We go back to Nosey Nelly and Shawn Michaels, who announces HBK and HH vs. KA and CCC.

Jared from Subway is on trial for murder one and cannibalism, but he gets off because he gives the jury/judge Subway sandwiches.

Heart Throbs vs. Viscera
Hearts hit on Lillian, using some term Spike bleeps out. Vis doesn't wrestle with his robe on, but does still wear his pj's. Heart Throbs dominate this classic match, until Vis fights back and attempts to mount and ride Romeo, but Antonio saves, and they post Vis crotch-first for the SQ. DUD

ECW ONS PPV DVD ad.

Maria is backstage telling us about the trade, and introduces Chavo Guerrero, now with a shaved head. Chavo changes his name to Kerwin White.

We go to Hurricane and Rosey who tell us about firecracker saftey, and Rosey sets his arm on fire while checking out Stacy's hinder. Har har.

Meanwhile, Maria mopes around until John Cena cheers her up. Okay then.

Highlight Reel time, with John Cena as the guest. Jericho talks up Cena's recent accomplishments, but then turns to his own, showing a video of his band doing some concert.Cena wishes Jericho luck and tries to walk away, but Jericho goats him back in, and says he can take the title any time he wants. Cena goes on some rant about "real". They brawl a bit, and Jericho runs. Not that good of a segment, but it really makes me want to see Cena vs. Jericho, so it does good in that regard.

Time for the Diva Time Waster Boot Camp. Apparently one of the chicks fell, but I missed it. Boo. Coach does the bootcamp first, then all the divas do it. The only eventful part was some girl losing her top for a few seconds. Alexis or someone wins, I don't know, I don't care.

Some video guy screws up the video of the Angle/Hogan thing.

Coach tells us to vote, I refuse.

Val Venis (!) vs. Renee Dupree
It was great to see Val on RAW again, but he does a quick and completly un-eventful job to Renee while Renee puts his feet on the ropes. This was supposed to put Dupree over, but it does no such thing. DUD

We do a brief recap of the SD Main Event.

Todd interviews Carlito and Kurt. Kurt promises to break somebodies ankle, and then Carlito acts like he's going to spit the apple at Todd, but then doesn't. Damn.

LOD DVD ad. I finally picked it up today. Good stuff.

Carlito Carribean Cool and Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels and Hulk Hogan
Hogan and Kurt begin, but Hulk soon tags in Shawn. Carlito tags in and gets worked over by Shawn, who tags in Hogan. He axe bombers Carlito, and then tags back in Shawn. Carlito makes the tag to Kurt, and he and Shawn go at it. The faces clean house as we go to a commercial. Back on RAW, Kurt works over Shawn, but a belly to belly off the top is blocked. A well timed knee from Carlito allows Kurt a regular belly to belly, though. The heels talk turns beating on Shawn. HBK misses a dropkick, but reverses out of the anklelock and Angle Slam, and gets a DDT. Hot tag to Hogan, and he gives Carlito the Big Boot and Legdrop for the pin. Good match. ***

After a bit of celebration, Shawn lays out Hogan with Sweet Chin Music. Did NOT see that coming, but I like it.

Overall Thoughts: Pretty good RAW. Other than the Diva Search, which did give us a nip-slip, everything else was solid/good, and it sets up a lot of new things. Good for RAW.
