Jimmy reviews Raw for 8/29/05
RAW Opening with Jericho's firing highlightsWe are joined by Carlito Carribean Cool, who seemingly never plans to defend the Intercontinental Title. Carlito's Cabana guest is Shawn Michaels. Carlito insinuates he's better than HBK, but Shawn points out that Carlito never defends the IC Title. Carlito pulls out Shawn's 'pecking order' line from last week. Masters comes out, and falls prey to a 2 on 1 beatdown. Ric Flair makes the save.
Big Show vs. Jobbers
Show double chokeslams them for the pin in a match that went on too long for what it was supposed to accomplish. Snitsky runs down afterwards, and beats down Show with the ring bell. Okay. DUD
Ha, stupid lonely old people.
Torrie Wilson and Candice Michelle come out. They apologize and ask Ashley to come out. They instead bad mouth her, and announce her first match,
Victoria vs. Ashely
Short and sweet, as Vicky wins with the Widow's Peak. DUD
Use Axe, and you too can have kinky sex with horses.
Cade and Murdoch vignette
Backstage, Todd Grisham is with Edge, and Edge is with Alterbridge. He bashes Matt some more.
Elsewhere, Lita taunts Matt.
Backstage, Ric Flair has exploded.
Edge w/Lita vs. Matt Hardy in a Street Fight
They brawl a bit, and Matt gets a trashcan lid and nails Edge with it. Edge nails Matt with a ladder to counter as we go to commercial. We return with more brawling by the ladder. Matt does the Legdrop off the ladder onto Edge. Kendo stick gets involved, and Edge beats Matt with it a bit. He tries to use a chair, but Matt blocks. Edge flapjacks Matt into a ladder though. Edge beats on Matt some more. Ref asks Matt if he wants to stop it, but Matt refuses. Matt DDT's Edge on the steps. Ouch. They brawl some more. Matt tries to moonsault Edge while Edge lies on a ladder, but Edge moves. Ha ha. They brawl some more. Matt tries to powerbomb Lita off the stage, but Edge saves. Edge tries to slam Matt off, but Matt blocks. Twist of Fate blocked, as is the spear, and Matt Side Effects Edge and himself into the electrical box. Seen it. Match was okay, but it's too little too late for this fued. ***
We see Matt and Edge being stretchered out. Poor dopes.
We're joined by John Cena. He calls out Kurt. Angle comes out and states he's just a better wrestler than Cena. Cena does the 'come get some' act. Instead he presents his ass to Kurt, but Kurt doesn't accept and Anke Locks Cena, but Cena breaks free and Kurt bails.
Tyson Tomko vs. Rosey
Rosey goes up and Tomko kicks him in the gut for the KO. He then KO's Hurricane for fun. Way to make the Tag Champs look like chumps.
The HBK/Flair vs. Carlito/Masters match is changed to a handicap match.
Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Masters and Carlito
I could type up a long synopsis, but I don't feel like it. The match goes on for about 25 minutes, and most of it is the heels beating on Shawn. Just when all hope looks gone, Zombie Flair comes out and gets the hot tag. He cleans house, but gets lowblowed by Carlito. Shawn planchas Carlito on the outside, and Masters Masterlocks Flair into submission for the win. Solid, but overly long. ***
Overall Thoughts: Pretty good RAW. Good angle advancement, and some pretty good matches make this show worthwhile.
