Jimmy Reviews Raw for 8/15/05.

We're live in Montreal, Quebec with our hosts Jim Ross, Jonathan Coachman, and Jerry Lawler.

We are joined immediately by Shawn Michaels, to the biggest heel heat I've ever heard! He mocks them. He moves on to Hogan. The crowd is unreal. Shawn tells us he screwed Bret. They pull the ultimate tease as Bret's music hits, and my heart skips a beat. It turns out to be as real as Matt's return at Edge and Lita's wedding. He continues, and Hogan's music hits, but it turns out it's another fake-out. Crowd starts a "Shut the fuck up!" chant, and Spike TV goes nuts with the censors. HA! Shawn finally finishes his near 20 minute speech.

Heart Throbs vs. Big Show
Show dominates them all the way through. Chops, running corner butt splash, and double chokeslam finish for Show. Match was nothing, but the crowd was into it. DUD

Eugene comes out. He announces the Gold Medal Invational. Rene Dupree answers, to a big pop. It is broken up in 11 seconds by Kurt, who beats down both guys. He promises to beat down Hogan as well.

Elisabeth gets voted off the Diva Search. I don't care.

Matt/Lita/Edge video.

Backstage, Bischoff plots with Jericho and Carlito to be Canadian.

Chris Jericho and Carlito vs. John Cena
Carlito and Cena start. Cena shoulder tackles and back body drops Carlito. We go to commercial as things break down. We return with Jericho working over Cena. Cena blocks a Carlito suplex with one of his own. Cena and Jericho exchange chops, and Jericho takes over. Carlito comes back in and gets a neckbreaker and pounding for 2. He then goes to the chinlock. Cena fights back, but Carlito hits a spinebuster for 2. Jericho comes in and chokes Cena a bit, while Bischoff slaps him. Cena fights back with lefts and rights. Hiptoss on Carlito, followed by the Protoplex, and the 5 knuckle shuffle. FU on Carlito finishes, but Jericho bashes Cena's head in with a chair afterwards. Match was pretty boring. *1/2

Diva Search. Finally down to to, the fake punk girl and Melina #2. We get a video. Ashley wins. HELL YEAH! IT'S OVER!

Edge with Lita vs. Val Venis (!)
Edge attacks from behind while Val scouts Lita. Val clothesline Edge. Rope knees and russian legsweep, followed by the bump and grind from Val. They fight on the outside, and Edge whips Val back first into the ring arporn. Edge works the back a bit. Suplex gets 2. Val fights back with a shoulder block but can't lift Edge up for the Blue Thunder and gets Edge-o-maticed. Spear is countered, but not for long as he hits it and applies the Educationer for the tap out win over Val. Damn. **1/2

Backstage, Rob Conway takes a mirror from Stacy and she walks off with Hurricane.

Rob Conway vs. Hurricane
Conway immediatley goes to the chinlock(?) Hurricane rollup gets 2. Conway clothesline. He punts 'Cane through the ropes. Back in, nice neckbreaker gets a few 2 counts for Conway. Hurricane fights back, getting a hiptoss, dropkick, and back body drop. Shining Wizard misses, Ego Trip followed by a Big Elbow Drop off the top doesn't. Solid stuff. **

We run through the SummerSlam card. A lot of makeshift matches.

Kurt Angle vs. Hulk Hogan
Hogan gets a huge pop. He domiantes Angle, putting his attire on Kurt and pounding him all around ringside. Back in Angle takes over and goes to the sleeper. Hogan gets out, but his own sleeper is reversed into a back suplex. Angle Slam gets 2. Hulk Up time. YOU! 3 punches, Big Boot, but no Legdrop as Shawn runs in for the DQ. He teases Sweet Chin Music, but instead opts for the Sharpshooter, and Bret ain't running down that aisle as we fade to black. Match was the most formulaic thing you could think of. 1/2*

Overall Thoughts: I liked RAW this week. 2 pretty good matches, and pretty entertaining stuff all around.
