WITH JOHN CENA AND SHELTON BENJAMIN…

Recap of G4's Training camp with John Cena and Shelton Benjamin

G4TV debuted Training Camp on Tuesday night.  The show is described as "where gamers and athletes colide."  The show is hosted by former NFL running back Eddie George.  George welcomes us to the show, and says they'll be going to California to see Josh Boyd.  Boyd, who is described as one of the best video gamers ever, would be going to New York to meet John Cena and Shelton Benjamin.

We're then given some info on Boyd.  He is a film major at Cal-State Northridge.  He describes himself as a longtime wrestling fan, said he'd been playing wrestling video games for years.  Said he was a Hulkamanaic.  A brief preview of the new WWE Smackdown VS. Raw 2006 game is aired.  George then shows up at Boyd's house, said it was a surprise.  I think it was, as Boyd greeted him wearing a robe.  He and his roomate (didn't catch the name, sorry) were playing video games.  George tells Boyd they're going to NY, since he's one of the world's best gamers.  Tells the roomate he can't go.

Next are some of Josh's tips for the game.  1. Know your move set (IE: what buttons to push to execute moves and when.)  2. Make adjustments for the size of the opponent (IE: don't try to have Rey Mysterio slam Big Show.)  3.  Know your finisher and where to apply it (don't put a Masterlock on when you're not standing behind them.)

Next, George and Boyd show up in NY, and file footage of John Cena is shown.  Boyd meets Cena.  Cena tells Boyd they've got to get him ready to wrestle.  Cena and Boyd (wearing a black spandex outfit, fake mustache, and catburglar type mask) are in a gym in front of what looks like a boxing ring (it has four ropes.)  Cena helps Boyd come up with a name.  Mamaltoes the Turd Burglar (yes, you read that correctly.)  And his finishing move (the fruit basket.)  We go to break after Cena gets MT to cut a promo promising to kick Shelton Benjamin's ass.

More tips from Josh.  1. Know your match objectives (burrying someone alive in a Burried Alive match, escaping a cage in a steel cage match.)  2.  Save your finisher until the right time (when the momentum bar is high.)  3. Use the enviorment to your advantage (like jumping off the stage onto someone to cause more damage.)

Cena then shows MT two moves.  The chop (he looked pretty pathetic doing it.) and the Cobra Clutch (also pretty pathetic.)  Then the fruit basket.  Looked like a camel clutch.  Cena actually acted as if the move was hurting him.  As they go to break, another promo.  MT comes up with the line "I take crap from everyone, because I'm the turd burglar!"

Last tips from Josh.  1. Pay attention to flow of match, notice when you're supposed to counter.  2. Know the different weight classes and their abilities (super heavyweights do mainly power and impact moves.) 3. Know what part of body to attack to set up finisher (IE: wear down the head if you're using the pedigree.)

MT then meets Shelton Benjamin.  He gives MT two choices 1. They have the match, MT gets beat to a bloody pulp, or 2. Benjamin shows him two more moves.  MT obviously takes #2.  Benjamin shows him the armbar and the sharpshooter.  Pretty much the same as before.  Benjamin then tells MT he may have a future in the business, the video game business.  He tells him to never wrestle, don't fight, don't even get into a fight with little sister.

Show ends with George, MT (Boyd), Benjamin and Cena doing the "You can't see me" and George plugging the website (though he didn't know what it was.)  To see more info about the show, click here
