Recap of Lance Hoyt on Between the Ropes

by Richard Trionfo

This week on Between the Ropes, TNA wrestler and the man who has caused Hoytamania to spread through the Impact Zone, Lance Hoyt, joined Fritz, Dickerman, and Vito DeNucci to talk about his work in TNA, his upcoming match at the No Surrender pay per view on Sunday, the phenomenon known as Hoytamania at the Impact Zone, his wrestling career, and other issues.

Lance said that he has not received one of the ‘Hoytamania’ t-shirts that the fans in the front row of the Pit wear, but he has talked to the people who made the shirts.  He expects to have a Hoytamania t-shirt when he comes to Orlando this weekend for the pay per view.  The Pit is now the ‘Hoyt Section’.  He had no clue that they would be wearing the t-shirts.  He talked about how there were signs for the Hoyt Section before the shirts.  One of the people in the ‘Hoyt Section’ had told him that they would do something cool, but he never expected the t-shirts.  He is honored that the fans would do it for him.  He never asked them to do anything special for him.  Those fans have taken it upon themselves and he appreciates each and every one of them.  They draw everyone else in the arena into what they are cheering for.

Lance was asked where the phenomenon of Hoytamania began in TNA, and he said that you only had to see him work in the ring.  He said that it was a slow build.  There has been a core group of people who have watched him the whole time in TNA, but now everyone is getting to see his work. He noticed it at Destination X when he last tagged with Kid Kash.  He was involved in a match during the pre-show that was only supposed to entertain the crowd.  However that match got the crowd going and everyone took notice.  He hopes the office is taking notice.  There are people in the office who have talked to him, and he thinks they have more confidence in him.

He works in Dallas for PCW (Professional Championship Wrestling).  They run a weekly program and have one of the best facilities in Texas.  They have a gym as well as an arena.  He helps with their wrestling school so he is doing a lot of work in the ring.  He works for them almost every Saturday.  He wants to be able to learn new things.  He has learned a lot during his time in TNA from people like Shane Douglas, Terry Taylor, and Jerry Lynn who are willing to work with everyone in the locker room.  They have given him tips on how to do things better in the ring.

Lance was asked about the name change.  He is not unhappy right now because the crowd latched on to him with his real name.  As he progresses and achieves different things in the wrestling world, it will be with his real name.  He enjoyed working under the name Shadow in Texas.  When he signed with TNA, his name was changed to Dallas.  He came back after some time off, and was told that he was going to wrestle under his real name.  While he was down on it at first, he did not mind since he was wrestling on television.

Lance was asked about dealing with stories about the television situation.  He said that they are not aware of anything since the front office is keeping it quiet so the wrestlers are not disappointed by something that is not going to happen.  It is anxious time because nothing has been announced.  They are doing things that show him that they are moving forward.  They have a new DVD deal, television people are being brought in, and he is doing work for a new toy line.  He would love to have a prime time spot competing directly with the WWE.  He wants to make sure that the most people will be able to watch the TNA product.

He was caught off guard by Kid Kash’s departure from TNA.  Lance did not know anything about it until he saw the release on the TNA website.  They were about a week from Lockdown and it came out of nowhere.  Kash talked to Lance and explained things to him, and apologized if the release affected him with the company.  Kash had his issues with the company and Lance respects Kash and his opinions.  Kash never tried to pull Lance into any issues that he had with TNA.  Kash made his choice and he has moved on.

Lance was asked if he has a match on the pay per view.  He said that he was not sure, but he has been dealing with the Canadians for a while.  He says that they cannot fight one-on-one.  He beat Eric Young a few weeks ago.  He said that Scott D’Amore put his nose where it did not belong.  He is willing to work with The Naturals if they ask him at No Surrender.
