……

Hello Georgie,

Last night, there was a programming change when instead of Herb Abram's UWF airing at 1 am, what aired was a March 4th 1986 airing of AWA Championship Wrestling.

In that episode was the debut of Shawn Michaels (spelled Sean Michaels). He defeated a black wrestler named Khan (I forgot his first name). Shawn used a super kick and Superfly slash for the pinfall win.

The next match has tag champ Scott Hall, accompanied to the ring with his partner Curt Hennig, as he faced "Pretty Boy" Doug Sommers (without Sherri Martel and Buddy Rose). A solid match which saw Hall gained the pin after a powerslam.

There was a Piper's Pit sort of segment called Larry's Corner, that had Larry Zbyszko & Larry Miller interview newcomer Marty Jannetty after some match highlights. Jannetty announced on that show that he planned on teaming with another newcomer, Shawn Michaels, to form a team called the US Express (I suppose this was after the WWF teaming of Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda and before the teaming of Rotunda & Dan Spivey). Zbyszko of course tried to antagonize Jannetty by saying that Jannetty's southern accent was incoherent mumbling, and right before the commericial, he called Marty a slut due to the way he dressed.

There were highlights from a match that had King Kong (Bruiser) Brody, accompanied by Sheik Adnan El Kassey, against Jerry "Crusher" Blackwell. That bout never really got underway because Brody got disqualified after wild antics, and this match set up some heat for the main event of El Kassey's Boris Zhukov vs Blackwell. At some point, Blackwell's nose was bloodied, and he ended the match with a slash and pin on Zhukov.

Tonight the AWA programming continues at 1 am. If they are going in order, then the main event should be David Sammartino vs AWA champion Stan "The Lariat" Hansen.
