Report on Big Show on Conan O'Brien

Courtesy wrestlingobserver.com

He came out and shook hands and Big Show talked about how unusual it is for the guest to tower over Conan (since Conan is a legit 6'5") and then Conan commented on how his hand gets enveloped by the Big Show's hand when they shake.

The first half of the interview (i.e. the promo for Wrestlemania) he essentially did in character talking about how he just hopes Floyd shows up so he can get his hands on him. They talked about how Big Show called him out just trying to get publicity for himself - in terms of how the match came about. He then talked about how Floyd broke his nose when he was on his knees. After that they showed the clip of Show throwing Floyd over the top ropes onto the pile of wrestlers from Raw a couple of weeks ago. Conan asked if you are allowed to do that (throw Floyd over the ropes) and Show said he can do whatever he wants to him be it throwing him into the Citrus Bowl's rafters or kiss him on the mouth. He then talked about how his wife is actually bigger than Floyd - he said Bess is 5'11" and about 159-165lbs. Conan asked why she didn't fight Floyd instead and Show said Bess is about 40lbs of boobs so she probably couldn't fight that well.

From there Show dropped his character and was talking about his wife - where Paul showed off his personality and showed himself to be very self-deprecating (as he always does on talk shows - or at least everytime I've seen him on Conan).

Conan mentioned that he (Show) and his wife actually get along and Show said yeah she does whatever she wants, is mean all the time and he has to do whatever she says to get along. He essentially did a bit (well continued at this point) about how his wife is really mean and he's a nice guy and if they had a son that he would be the anti-Christ b/c he would be mean (b/c of her) and huge (b/c of him). He said that she's always mean and that he's only mean when someone aggravates him. To give an example of how mean his wife is talked about how she always calls him Big Show at home and he said when he's at home he's just Paul not Big Show, but she always calls him Big Show. One time he said to her call me Big Show again, I dare you, I triple dog dare you to call me Big Show again. He then left the home, went out got a coffee, worked out, did whatever and came home a couple of hours later. When he got home, she had put this glass container on the coffee table with a turtle in it. She said that the turtle is "The Big Slow" and instead of calling him Big Show from then, she called him the Big Slow but then pointed to the turtle as if she was talking to the turtle and not him. EDITORIAL COMMENT: I have to say that whenever I've seen Big Show on shows to promote WWE (or whatever) he always comes off very well and is taken to very well by the crowd. His jokes/bits always get a good laugh. As I mentioned before, his self-depracating personality/persona works really well on the talk show circuit.

He also played into a Conan bit where he made an "ASS" of himself telling a story of how he was walking around NYC, he got a hot dog and was going into the subway where a crowd of kids came up to him for pictures and autographs and then the hot dog vendor said b/c of this man (Big Show) all hot dogs are now 1/2 price - $1. Conan then informed Big Show that that was a ruse and that hot dogs are always $1 in NYC. They then put up the ASS graphic (ASS in Big Red Letters across his face).

They then plugged that Wrestlemania will be on March 30th to end the segment.

Big Show stayed out for the next guest (comedian J.B. Smooth from Curb Your Enthusiam) - but didn't participate in the segment at all.
