…
We got to the show about 20 minutes before it opened. On Saturday morning, we woke my 6-year-old son, and told him that we had a surprise for him that morning, but didn't tell him what. When we got to the expo center, we revealed the partial truth - we were going to a car show. As he's not into cars, he was disappointed by the surprise. When we were in line to retrieve our tickets, he saw other fans with pictures of The Shield. I asked him if he would be interested in meeting Seth Rollins and his eyes lit up. The bad news was Rollins was having travel issues and was going to be 45 minutes late.
We got in line near the stage, and we had to wait two hours. In line, somebody at the event said alternate travel arrangements had been made, and Rollins should be on time. About five minutes after his scheduled start time, Rollins showed up wearing a hat and holding the Money in the Bank briefcase. It took about 10 minutes to get up to Rollins. I handed him an envelope with WWE tickets inside that said "My son's first WWE show is coming in three weeks. He doesn't know he's going, but thought it would be cool if he found out he was going from Seth Rollins." Rollins read the note, asked my son his name, and told him he had a surprise. Rollins asked if he wanted to come see him wrestle in three weeks and handed him the tickets to tell him he was going. I think my son's brain broke because he stood there frozen. Rollins joked with him about being nervous. I had to encourage my son to ask him a question. He asked Rollins why he wasn't in the Shield anymore. Rollins said it's because they're not his friends anymore. They posed for a picture, and Rollins said, "I'll see you in a few weeks." I thanked Rollins who said, "That was awesome, thank you, dude."
We went there looking for something to do that would be kind of cool for my son. We got something he'll never forget.
