Bret Hart, HonkyTonk and more….

Yesterday I attended WrestleFest 2008 in Newark, California.  I felt it was extremely well run and those in charge should be commended.

Since I first watched wrestling my favorite star has always been Jimmy Hart.  By proxy, any wrestler he managed (in those early years) was my favorite as well.  So when this even was announced and Jimmy, The Honky
Tonk Man and The Hart Foundation were going to be there, I knew I would be as well.

The only disappointment came when I arrived and was told that due to scheduling, Jimmy Hart would NOT be there.  I had purchased a Super Ticket for autographs with all the featured guests, along with a Hart Foundation
Photo Op (with Bret, Jim and Jimmy) and an two extra photo tickets for me and Jimmy and Me and Honky Tonk.  I was bummed Jimmy wasn't going to be there but the people at www.BTWrestling.com really stepped up to the plate!
They moved Rob Van Dam from a 'Vendor' guest to a SuperTicket guest to compensate.  I felt that was a pretty standup thing to do, even though I had met RVD before but it was a great gesture.

The lines were well organized and the Hart Foundation 'photo op' was the smartest idea I've seen.  The photo line moved really quickly.  Heck all the lines moved smoothly.  I didn't see anyone upset at all and, even
though, my hero Jimmy wasn't there, I do feel I got my money's worth.

The matches that night were fantastic and REALLY family friendly!  It was like watching old school WWE and the kids in attendance loved the matches.
I live in Souther California, but I have no qualms about driving up to see another event put on by these guys.  It was a treat that Harley Race came out to sit ringside for a few matches and Bret came out and addressed the crowd who was very respectful to both superstars.

WrestleFest was a million time more organized than the ill fated WrestleFanFest and I think it proved that there is a market for this kind of thing in the Bay Area.

Here's my photos from the event:
