…..

Georgie,
I attended the Smackdown show this past Saturday in Poughkeepsie, at the historic Mid Hudson Civic Center. There were no Piper's Pit set up on the stage or Monday Night Raw banners hanging from the rafters (this venue used to be a top spot for WWF tv tapings back in the day). Saturday night featured the superstars of ECW and WWE Smackdown!

The civic center appeared to be a sellout with a crowd of over 3,000 fans. On the card were Brian Kendrick, Tommy Dreamer, Jeff Hardy, Edge, The Miz, The Big Show, John Morrison, Nunzio, Funaki, Nattie Neidhart, Michelle McCool, and many others. The crowd was into most of the matches with huge pops for Umaga, Hardy, Big Show, Stevie Richards and Nunzio. (Poughkeepsie is another big ECW city, as they used to tape their TNN show here as well).

Michelle McCool received an "Undertaker!" chant after her match which was amusing. MVP had The Big Show as a guest in his talk show segment and that ended up with The Big Show choke slamming him, leading into a match. The card is almost indentical to the Westchester County Center's show the following night. MVP gave a similar promo about Poughkeepsie not being NYC and bashing the fans, etc. Morrison and Miz cut a promo and started meditating in the ring prior to their match with Hawkens/Ryder and Jesse/Festus.  Overall a decent show, but nothing can compare to the 4-6 hour  WWF TV tapings I used to attend here, or the disorganization of the ECW shows. The venue is obviously too small to hold a TV taping now, but one look at the classic bleachers that used to hang the vintage WWF banner  can bring back many memories.
