…..

Wow. This is another fantastic DVD effort by the WWE. On par with the warrior DVD but without the comedic stylings and unintelligible promos. I would compare it to the rise and fall of ECW DVD in terms of a excellent DVD with much better bonus features and matches.
I'm super psyched to see the Hart DVD, as they had a wonderful mix here of documentary, clips, promos, and matches.

1. WWE Spanish Announcer Hugo Savinovich = total fiend. He was apparently Jake's traveling partner, as he's on alot of this DVD talking about Jake and Hugo's own demons. Yes, Hugo's own demons are addressed on here.

2. Jake rips the Warrior but admits he held up Vince for his release before his match with the Undertaker at WrestleMania 8, he claims he wouldn't go into the ring for the match until Vince gave him his release so he could go to WCW.

3. On doing a run in on the ECW Hardcore Heaven PPV "I didn't agree with the product, but being a prostitute, i don't being a street walker, i prefer to be a call girl, they called and I went." Jake's match with Tommy Dreamer vs. Justin Credible & Jack Victory (dream tag team partner) at November To Remember 1998 (in which Jake wrestled in a hockey jersey and blue jeans with cowboy boots)

4. On "Beyond The Mat" Bruce Prichard claims it was "heavily edited to make a juicy story for a movie." That sounds sorta like this DVD.  Jake claims it was originally supposed to be a TV documentary to keep kids off drugs. Vince on "Beyond The Mat" called it "lousy portrayal of what was then the underbelly of the business."

5. The Lawler feud is recapped nicely, with Jake being upset "I hated it, it hurt" about Lawler spitting real Jim Beam whiskey at him and how "it burned like hell. It could have been Iced Tea, it was humiliating, it was personal." Hugo Savinovich about how the Lawler-Jake feud woke him up and made him realize he was a "prisoner of my own demons." He also noted he should have listened to Lawler and it would have helped him family.

6. UK story, he went there to "get clean" some lady claimed he took a 1200lb Snake and beat his opponent with it and her child could no longer sleep.

7. In a first for the WWE, there is no Steve Lombardi on this DVD.

8. It doesn't focus as much on the addiction as you would think. It goes back and forth. It does not get too preachy. There are several scenes of someone (a mystery man) doing shots or pills being shown.

9. Jake notes he wrestled in an altered state for two years, however does not note when this was happening. At the end they basically say he had so much to give back to the business, but his demons did him out. "It's a tragic story" - Vince McMahon. They do have a nice ending where everyone says he would have a lot to give if he could turn his life around, "its never too late" Vince notes.

10. The DVD opens with a long poem written by Jake himself entitled "thieves of dreams" and ends on a happy note with "I'm not happy where I've been but I'm truly excited where I'm going"
11. Claims to have tried to commit suicide two times once using 100 placidils (10 would kill a man, 100 would kill an elephant)

12. Sadly, no footage from Hero's Of Wrestling on here.

13. The warrior and Jake stuff was helluva awesome, especially with Warrior calling Jake "snakeman" and warrior wearing white jean shorts and cowboy boots.
