Batista is coming in January…..

The 28th superstar has made it to the gallery of champions here at the Palace of Long Island, New York as my quest to meet superstars of World Wrestling Entertainment continues. Tonight, live from Massapequa, Long Island, New York, a man who has been through hell and still manages to be a professional to the last, the master of the West Coast Pop, Rey Mysterio, and probably one of the hottest rookies on the Smackdown roster, from Green Bay, Wisconsin, weighing 244 pounds, MR. KEN KENNEDY.

KENNEDY.

Kennedy, by the way, is #28 on my wall. Mysterio has been up there for some time, mainly because this is my third go round with the San Diego native.

New York Sports Works again puts on a show. And the turnout tonight was ultimate. The old Old Navy store at the Westfield Sunrise Mall was lined with people three deep to see the two Smackdown superstars. Rey has been here before, and has always drawn a crowd, and I believe, wholeheartedly, that the animated Mr. Kennedy has developed almost a cult like following that could vault him to the upper tier of competition in WWE very quickly.

By the way,

Before I continue, a little comedy. I had planned initially on having Rey sign my Smackdown tag replica title belt. I had forgotten that I had met Rey on two different occasions previous, where he signed my cruiserweight title initially, and then last time out, signed the internet exclusive figure that is out, as well as the Smackdown tag. You had to see my face to believe how much of a dork I felt like when I tried to tell my wife that the plan I had was already done. I thought about going in a different direction, but I ended up having Rey sign my cruiserweight micro belt, that Hurricane also has signed. Not too shabby, don't ya think?

Mysterio and Kennedy arrive fashionably late, thank you Long Island traffic, and the race is on. The line got bum rushed by about five or six different individuals, but in the process, my kids, sans one, sadly, my big guy didn't want to come this time, had the chance to meet with Rey first. I had the chance to show Rey a picture I have in my collection of my youngest son Jonathan, who just turned six yesterday, with Eddie from the Wrestlemania 20 press conference where Eddie let Jon hold the WWE title. I saw Rey get misty eyed under the mask. I hope Rey wasn't upset by me showing him this. It is a treasured possession in my home, and although I wasn't there in person to witness it, I will forever be grateful to Latino Heat for the effort and professionalism he showed my wife and son at that very trying time in our lives. It was meant as a sincere tribute to Eddie, someone who I miss, someone who the world misses, and someone who will always be remembered as a legendary performer.

Soon afterwards, I had the chance to shake hands with the hot rookie from the cheesehead state. I blurted out that Mr. Kennedy is a godsend to him, which he looked a little flabbergasted to hear a 34 year old man gush, but hey, when you're put on the spot, you don't have time to think, and this thing happened so fast, it was tough to come up with a plan of action for such a short period of time. He shook my hand with vigor and geniune emotion, and expressed his emotion about us coming to see him. I applaud Mr. Kennedy for his demeanor during this appearance. He seemed geniunely interested in being there and meeting the people that watch his product. That, ladies and gentlemen, is all you can ask from these performers, and if they give that to the consumer, in this case, me, I will become a fan of their work, no questions asked. Mr. Kennedy showed me that, although still young, he gets it. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason why I continue to sound like a broken record when I say...

If you have the chance to meet the superstars of WWE, do it. Vince McMahon may be psychotic. He may be classless with what he did with Eddie's lowrider, but the talent he employs, with some exceptions, understand without question what drives the machine to their paycheck. That engine is the fans. And the superstars of WWE do take care of their fans.

In closing, a special hello goes out to my new friend Joe and his wife from Delaware. (Forgive me, Joe, I forgot your wife's name. Lack of sleep. Bad!) Also, a special hello goes out to their son Nicholas, who had the chance tonight to meet his hero, Rey Mysterio, after driving nearly 5 hours to do so. I hope that your trip was enjoyable, and the experience was also. I am glad to have been a part of it.

Also, again, broken record time, but Alex, Mike, and the boys from New York Sports Works continue to show nothing but class and dignity toward my family in ways I cannot express in words. I am always grateful to them for their kind efforts to help me whenever I approach them, and I HIGHLY recommend anyone who wants to do business for WWE merch check out the store if you're on the Island, or check out their website. It is MOST RECOMMENDED, thank you very much.
