DWAYNE 'THE ROCK' JOHNSON is pumping up for a new bodybuilding TV series set at California's famous Venice Beach.

The busy action man revealed he is executive producing a new drama titled Muscle Beach, which is the outdoor bodybuilding gym in Venice Beach.

The show will be set at the height of the location's popularity in 1980s, and feature "a colourful tribe of lost souls struggle to reinvent themselves by bench-pressing their way to a bigger, better American dream, no matter what the cost."
