ROH GLORY BY HONOR X NEWS

…
It’s been a long time…over two years in fact…since Nick & Matt Jackson stepped inside the ROH ring and looked across to see the boys from Sandy Fork, DE waiting for a fight. That is an intimidating sight for even the most grizzled ring warriors, but on that September night at “Glory by Honor VIII”, it was The Young Bucks who actually walked away with the hard-fought victory in NYC.
Skip ahead two years & a couple months to “Glory by Honor X” and the Briscoes will finally have a chance to get back at The Bucks when ROH hits Chicago Ridge, IL on November 19th.
“Welcome back to ROH, Young Bucks!” said Jay Briscoe, “It’s been a couple months now but I don’t think you boys have been given a proper welcome back party, have ya? Well I think that’s about to change in Chicago. Me and my brother Mark are fixing to give ya’ll boys a homecoming of the sort that only the baddest tag team on the planet can do. Ya’ll want to get back into the mix in the home of the best damn tag teams in wrestling? Ya want to step up to the plate with the big boys? Don’t get much bigger than the Briscoe brothers and we’ll be damned if this Glory by Honor turns out like the last one with ya’ll.”
The Briscoe vs. The Young Bucks goes down on 11/19/11 in Chicago Ridge, IL when The Frontier Fieldhouse hosts the 10th annual “Glory by Honor”! Tickets for this huge event can be purchased right here (https://www.rohwrestling.com/product/glory-honor-x-chicago-ridge-il-november-19th)!

Jay Lethal claimed the ROH World TV Title on 8/13/11 from El Generico and has successfully defended the title on one occasion against “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett (recently seen on “Ring of Honor Wrestling” here https://www.rohwrestling.com/tv/watch-now). Another title defense is on the slate for Lethal on 11/5 when he meets Generico in a hotly anticipated rematch, but ROH officials are looking to see who will be next in the line for the winner of that bout. Thus “The Proving Ground” comes to ROH’s annual “Glory by Honor” event, and the man stepping up to the challenge is former ROH World & former ROH World Tag Team Champion Roderick Strong.
“The idea that I have to prove myself is absolute garbage.” said Roderick, “I’m a former World Champion, a former tag champion, not to mention the best athlete in Ring of Honor, and I still have to jump through hoops to get a title match? Whatever bro, I’ll play your games. I’ll kick Jay Lethal’s ass in Chicago, then I’ll take the TV title, then I’ll be ROH’s 2nd Triple Crown Champion. It’s that simple.
There’s your dose of truth Ring of Honor, I hope you choke on it.”
To clarify, a Proving Ground match is contested when a champion fights in a non-title contest. The match is one fall to a finish, 20 minute time limit for this specific bout, and should Strong either defeat Lethal, or go the distance, than Roderick will receive a future World TV Title match.
These two warriors were very familiar with one another in the early days of their ROH careers, in fact Strong’s very first ROH bout was against Jay Lethal (then Hydro) at “Do or Die II”, but these are two very different athletes when compared to the 2004 versions of themselves. They have both experienced life & career changing moments, have grown both as wrestlers and as men, and now meet on The Proving Ground to see who is the better man. The only question, the only thing that could have an effect on this bout now, is whether or not Lethal makes it past Generico on 11/5 with the TV Title still in his possession…
Jay Lethal vs. Roderick Strong in “The Proving Ground”; it goes down on 11/19 at “Glory by Honor X” in Chicago Ridge, IL. Tickets are available here (https://www.rohwrestling.com/product/glory-honor-x-chicago-ridge-il-november-19th)!
