…..

By George,  it’s Just Incredible  !!

George’s Collectibles, the “New Kid on the Block” in the somewhat debacles and staggering wrestling  conventions of the recent year or so has come through JUST INCREDIBLY (All due apologies to my good buddy and former ECW Champ) with SIGNAMANIA II held on April 5, 2008 in the Ben Franklin School in Levittown, Pa.

While I have never actually been to George’s store, I understand they are wonderfully arranged and priced on all memorabilia and just recently met him some months back upon attending SIGNAMANIA I, where he had a host of wrestling celebs, young and older, who signed autographs in two well organized sessions run by himself and his more than terrific staff of volunteers.  I actually pitched in and worked that fall day as a Polaroid photog as the crowd was large and time running short so of course volunteerism as far as I am concerned is something all adults and youngsters should do in any way shape or form.

This time George had an array of guests that actually made the internet buzz for months, although his credibility is great, there were so many awesome Superstars booked to sign many of the “smart marks” of course think they know it all and become skeptics.  This leaves the simple marks and casual fans worried so they wait to buy tickets etc.  In my opinion, and although this piece is not to be editorial in nature, if Georgie posts it as a good and legit signing 99.99% of the time she is on the money.  The small per centage is the sometimes shyster promoters who are not so honest or just plain stupid in my opinion, but no matter what one can not blame Georgiann.  I know Georgie gets frustrated with it but as I always tell you, the guys like George above make up for the small per cent of loser wannabes.  I know everyone, and I mean everyone of the perhaps over 650 fans at SIGNAMANIA II yesterday were happy as pigs in JR’s sauce.

If I leave anyone out please forgive me I lost the piece of paper with the names of all the signees for the 2 sessions but I will try my best.  Again, opinion here only but the BIG 4 of the AM session seemed to be KING LAWLER, CHRISTY “#1 KNOCKOUT HEMME, TAMMY “SUNNY” SYTCH, and ANIMAL of LOD (in full face paint).  Also leading the first session were KAMALA, KOKO B. WARE, BILL ALFONSO (minus SABU WHO HAD TRAVEL FLOOD PROBLEMS)  and vendor Guests of K & S PROMOTIONS, HAKU, CHIEF JAY STRONGBOW, and BOB BACKLUND.  One of my fav spots of the signing was when MR BACKLUND asked a convention regular adult to name the President’s of the US in order.  The robe wearing multiple autograph superfan named them all perfectly, and double BB proudly jumped up on the signing table and announced loudly and proudly to the crowd , “We have someone who named all the Presidents’”.  Bob seemed to be delighted.  I guess if he runs for office again he will be pushing for “NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND IF ………………”  Father James Mitchell was also a welcome addition to the signing and was pretty busy.  He is a great guy with whom I’ve recently gotten very friendly.

Session one ran a bit overtime but you did not hear one single complaint, as a matter of fact the only complaints I actually heard were from myself and wrestling figs.com photographer Bob, about our hunger.  Rest assured George had his caterers in tact serving hot Italian food and salad to everyone’s delight after the signing and readying for Session two featuring the Steiner Brothers, The Nasty Boys, Mongo McMichael, the Zombie, Roxxy Leveaux, and perhaps a few more but I humbly apologize.  I’m surprised I remembered all this stuff.

I quote TNA KOOCKOUT Christy Hemme, “SIGNAMANIA II was the most well organized, well run convention I’ve ever been to and I’d like to personally thank George for having me.  The fans were great as was the venue, the food, and the delightful demeanor of a man relatively new to the convention business”
