SOME ADVICE FOR THE MARIA NYC SIGNING

Georgie,

I know you're accustomed to getting reports on autograph signings after they occur, but I believe the following information is pertinent to WrestlingFigs.com readers who are going to this Thursday's Playboy signing at the Virgin Megastore on Times Square.  I fear a disaster of colossal proportions and just wanted to spread the word before anybody started making travel plans to attend the signing.  Please post it sometime before Thursday, if you can.

Simply put, the people in charge of the store have no idea what they'll be doing on Thursday.  Since the information listed on the site is vague, I called the store several times in hopes of getting more detailed information and when nobody answered there, I had to go through Customer Service in order to speak to an actual human being.  The woman I spoke to said customers would get wristbands when they purchased the magazine and that the magazine would be available to buy once it went on sale, BUT SHE DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHEN THE MAGAZINE WAS GOING ON SALE.  It's common knowledge the issue hasn't gone on sale yet, but this lady acted like it'd been on the shelves for weeks.  Mind you, this woman was supposedly a manager, yet she didn't know how book signings were conducted.  When I asked when they'd start allowing people to get in line on Thursday, all she said was "early" and refused to tell me whether or not fans would be allowed to get in line outside the store before business hours.

The only other useful information I received from this clueless employee was the number of wristbands being handed out, which is supposedly five hundred.  Whether or not they will be gone by the time Thursday rolls around is a mystery to me and I'm sure it's a mystery to the employees of the Times Square Virgin Megastore, too.  I'm so disappointed in how this is being handled, as I was looking forward to meeting Maria and getting her Playboy signed.  I'm sure this will make the Ric Flair debacle at the seaport a few weeks ago look orderly, but unlike that situation, it won't be the WWE's fault.  This woman I spoke to said the signing is being conducted by THEIR store, so whoever winds up getting screwed over should direct their complaints to the manager of the store, assuming they're fortunate enough to get one on the telephone.

Hope this helps,

Rob Riemensnyder

I received some emails from our readers who have been to other WWE Playboy cover signings at Virgin Mega store in Manhattan.  And most have told me there were no problems at previous signings.  Candice Michelle only had about 300 fans at her signing and there were no problems.  I'm sure since it's mid afternoon, it won't be too crowded.
