WWE FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN! TV Taping
Tuesday, November 8, 2005
Indianapolis, Indiana
Conseco Fieldhouse

Last night, World Wrestling Entertainment brought WWE Friday Night SmackDown! to Indianapolis, Indiana and the Conseco Fieldhouse.  The program will be aired this Friday.

The evening began with a music video recapping WrestleMania 21 and then a reminder that the 3-disc is now available.

In what could be a dark match, Sylvan pinned Funaki.

Josh"The Youngest Voice in WWE"Matthews and Steve Romero make their way to the ring to do the commentary for WWE Velocity, which you can view starting on Saturday morning.

RoadWarrior Animal and Heidenreich defeated Nunzio and Big Vito when Animal pinned Nunzio after performing the Doomsday Device.

Simon Dean made his way to the ring and talked about how he was a winner.  He was then interrupted by Hardcore Holly who then said "the Simon System must be a laxative and that's bad because I'm gonna kick the crap out of you!" and our second Velocity match is underway.  The match ended when Holly performed the Alabama Slamma and gained the 1...2...3.

A WWE 24/7 music video aired to the tune of "Right Now."

Kid Kash made his Conseco Fieldhouse debut when he pinned Scotty 2 Hotty.

The exciting tag team of Paul London and Brian"Spanky"Kendrick were victorious in a very exciting tag team match when they defeated William Regal and Paul Burchill.  Kendrick pinned Burchill.

Matthews and Romero leave and as Tazz's theme song begins, that means it's time for "The Voice of SmackDown!" Michael Cole and Tazz to make their way to the ring to call the action for tonight's TV Taping.

The new "WWE: The Power Is Back!" video is played.

The show begins with the locker room being full of superstars and Teddy Long saying he will not allow SmackDown to be the "B" brand.  Tonight there will be a serious of matches to determine who will join the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Batista, on Team SmackDown! at Survivor Series.  Long informs Randy Orton that his qualifying match will be first.

The WWE Friday Night SmackDown! opening video is played followed by lots of hot and loud fireworks!

A promo screen hyping tonight's Streetfight between the World Heavyweight Champion, Batista and RAW's Edge is shown.

Footage from last week's match between "Rowdy" Roddy Piper against "Cowboy" Bob Orton is shown and the attack from Randy Orton on Piper is also shown.  Randy Orton makes his to the ring during all of this footage playing.  Then the music of his opponent is played and it's noneother than...REY MYSTERIO!  After lots of high-flying action, Mysterio is deemed victorious but by disqualification when Randy's Dad, Bob, interferes.  After the match, The Ortons continue to double-team Mysterio but then Matt Hardy runs down to the ring to make the save and performs the Twist of Fate on Randy.  The Ortons return to the locker room, Mysterio and Hardy celebrate in the ring, and Mysterio is now the second member of Team SmackDown!

A promo screen hyping the Streetfight between Edge and Batista is shown again before a video preview for the WWE WrestleMania: The Complete Anthology DVD Boxed Set is played.

It's promo screen time as a hype of two Team SmackDown Qualifying Matches take place.  In one, Eddie Guerrero competes against Mr. Kennedy and in the other former World Champions battle as Chris Benoit takes on JBL.  Both matches will take place tonight.

Backstage we see The Ortons who are being interviewed.  Randy says that Hardy is messing with fire and that he (Randy) will get revenge on Hardy.

As the WWE Tag Team Champions, MNM make their way to the ring, footage is shown of Eddie Guerrero Frog Splashing Melina during the WWE Tag Team Championship Match between MNM and Batista & Eddie Guerrero from last week.  Melina does not enter the ring in her usual manner due to back pain.  Melina says the crowd are cruel people and are shocked that they're booing MNM.  She then shows footage on how MNM regained the Tag Team Championship from RoadWarrior Animal and Heidenreich at Friday Night SmackDown, two weeks ago.

Melina then introduced a fellow celebrity.  She hails from Terre Haute, Indiana and is from America's Top Model.  Michelle Deighton comes out of the locker room.  After doing research, I found out she is only 19 years old and an aspiring wrestler.  Melina said that even though Michelle lost the ATM contest she's sorta a celebrity, but not "that way."  Michelle then slapped Melina and a cat fight was on.  MNM triple-teamed Michelle until The Mexicools came out to make the save.  Michelle and The Mexicools celebrated in the ring.

After the commercial break, Orlando Jordan came to the ring for his Team SmackDown! Survivor Series Qualifying Match against the still undefeated Bobby Lashley.  As Lashley is walking to the ring, I tell my Mom "Watch how he gets into the ring, it's really cool."  So how does he enter?  Via the steps.  Yeah, my Mom was real impressed.  LOL Lashley would soon advance and be the third member of Team SmackDown! when he pinned OJ.

Backstage, Teddy Long is in his office when RAW's Edge and Lita enter and tell Long he needs to cancel the Streetfight between Edge and Batista.  Long says he will not cancel anything unless Batista agrees to it.  Edge says that will be fine and for Long to just go to Batista, talk him into it, and cancel the match.  Long then informs Edge that if he wants the match to be cancelled, EDGE would have to ask Batista, not Long.  Edge and Lita then leave the room in a fuss.

It's time for promo screens as one appears to hype the next Team SmackDown! Survivor Series Qualifying Match between Eddie Guerrero and Mr. Kennedy.

The countdown to Survivor Series screen appears and believe it or not, we're just three weeks away from the 19th edition.

Mr. Kennedy then makes his way to the ring and introduces himself.  His opponent for the night, Eddie Guerrero, makes his way to the ring in a lowrider.  During the match, I yelled "Hey Kennedy, show up for your autograph sessions next time." but I don't think he heard me.  LOL At one point, the referee was knocked down and Guerrero went to the outside and grabbed a chair.  The referee was getting back up so he slammed the chair on the mat, tossed it to Kennedy and then fell to the ground.  The referee saw Kennedy with the chair and then disqualified him.  Guerrero moves on to Team SmackDown but it wasn't over as Kennedy grabbed the chair and almost knocked Guerrero's heaad off.  He then screamed at Guerrero, "DISQUALIFY ME?  DISQUALIFY THIS!" A few more referees came out and helped Guerrero who tried to celebrate but kept falling.

The most hated man of the night then came out to the ring...THE T-SHIRT GUY!  He almost threw one in my arms. LOL But once he was done he definitely gained the most boos.  LOL It's amazing how vicious people are when they don't get free stuff.

While the show was at commercial, the network executive Paul Cannon made his way to the commentator's booth.

The show resumed with a live shot outside of the beautiful Conseco Fieldhouse.

A replay is shown from when Mr. Kennedy blasted Eddie Guerrero with a chair shot just moments ago.  Backstage, Eddie is examined by the trainer who said he might've suffered a concussion.

It's our favorite time...PROMO SCREEN TIME!  A screen showcasing the current Team SmackDown! is shown and the current members are: World Heavyweight Champion - Batista, Rey Mysterio, Bobby Lashley, Eddie Guerrero, and one final participant to be decided later tonight.  Then a different screen is shown to hype the last Team SmackDown! Survivor Series Qualifying Match between Chris Benoit and JBL.

Michael Cole and Tazz welcome Paul Cannon to the commentator's booth as it's time for some JUNIORS DIVISION ACTION!  Unfortunately I wasn't able to hear the names of the participants and my source hasn't returned the information as of press time.  Once I get the information, I'll pass it along.  The first Junior participant resembled a mini version of The Patriot and had on red, white, and blue tights.  The second Junior participant had on red and black tights.  At the end of the night it was the individual wearing the red, white, and blue who gained the pinfall.

Backstage, Edge and Lita are in their dressing room and Edge says he is going to talk to Batista himself to get the Streetfight cancelled.  He tells Lita to stay in the dressing room and that he has plenty of security on the outside to protect her.  Lita tells Edge to becareful and as he leaves, someone rises from behind the couch.  Who is the mystery man?  THE BOOGYMAN!  Lita screams as he says "I'm coming for you." and we fade to black.

A preview for Survivor Series is shown and it is pretty certain that The Undertaker will be returning.  However, the preview kept talking about "The Beginning of the End." So I'm wondering...is The Undertaker planning on retiring?  If he begins his "retirement tour" now he could very well end it at WrestleMania 22.

Backstage, Batista is getting ready for his Streetfight when Edge walks into the room.  Edge says he and Batista are similar and are both "big stars" who don't need to get involved in the problems between RAW/SmackDown and Bischoff/Long.  He then asks if Batista will cancel the match and he says "Unlike Taboo Tuesday, I won't walk out of a match." He then says the fans paid to see a match and that's what they'll get.  So tonight it'll be a Streetfight between WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Batista and RAW's Edge.

Also backstage, an interview is shown with SmackDown's newest tag team...THE DICKS!  The individual names are James and Chad.  They talked about how "these Dicks are rock hard!" and "no body can beat The Dicks"  They revealed that next week The Dicks will make their SmackDown in-ring debut by taking on RoadWarrior Animal and Heidenreich.  I asked my Mom what her prediction for next week's match is..."They're going to get creamed!" ROTF!

Either before the commercial break or during it, JBL and Jillian make their way to the ring via a limo.  It was a long entrance so I'm going to say, they came out right before a break.  After the break, Chris Benoit made his way to the ring to take on JBL with the winner becoming the final member of Team SmackDown! at the Survivor Series.  In the middle of the match, the WWE United States Champion - Booker T and Sharmell make their way to the commentator's table.  Sharmell was actually wearing a crown.  At the end of the match, Booker gets on the apron and Benoit rips his shirt off but loses his concentration on JBL and as he turns around, JBL nails him with the Clothesline From Hell and is now the last member of Team SmackDown!

During the commercial, a Divas music video is played.

Footage from last week's RAW is shown where Eric Bischoff sends Edge and Lita to Friday Night SmackDown! to take on Batista.

Edge and Lita make their way to the ring for their match and then Batista makes his way to the ring.  By the way, Batista has REALLY LOUD FIREWORKS.  My ears are STILL ringing!  LOL As Batista is standing in the ring, we see Teddy Long and Eric Bischoff backstage.  Long says Bischoff is not welcomed.  Suddenly Chris Masters attacks Long and applies the Masterlock.  Masters tosses Long to the ground before he and Bischoff escape to an awaiting limosuine.  Team SmackDown (all but Guerrero and Batista) come rushing to Long's aide and then climb into JBL's waiting limo to chase Bischoff and Masters.  Back in the arena, the audience is stunned when Kane's music and fireworks come blasting into the arena.  He makes his way to ringside to stare Batista down and then The Big Show's theme song plays and he arrives to ringside via the audience.  Team RAW then attack the World Heavyweight Champion and nail him to the mat after a double chokeslam.  With Team SmackDown! out of the building it looked like nothing would save Batista but then Paul London, Brian Kendrick, RoadWarrior Animal, Heidenreich, Funaki, and Scotty 2 Hotty all make their way to the ring separately and they're all squashed.  In the end it was The Big Show, Kane, Edge, and Lita celebrating in the ring.  All four members of RAW leave via the audience.  It was at this point that the show would fade to black.

I've been talking about it for a month...the exclusive main event for Conseco Fieldhouse would be a Triple-Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Championship.  Batista would defend against Eddie Guerrero and Randy Orton.  However, as the RAW wrestlers were leaving, Orton's music begins to play and he says that Guerrero has a concussion so he won't be wrestling.  Therefore it would be a one-on-one match.  Orton had much of the advantage but somehow Batista would make it out as the World Heavyweight Champion.  Batista was either really hurt or did a good job of selling the injuries because the trainer and some backstage officials came out and it was several minutes before he made his way back to the locker room.

All in all it was an awesome night of WWE action and I really wish they would come back again very soon!  It will be interesting to see how the show comes across television on Friday.  WU Online gives this show a 4.5 out of 5 stars.
