FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“DR. DEATH” STEVE WILLIAMS GETS SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE;

AFTER BOUT WITH CANCER, RETURNS TO RING AT WRESTLEREUNION 2

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA,  – Wrestling legend “Dr. Death” Steve Williams, who recently won the greatest fight of his life against throat cancer, will return to the ring for the first time since his illness as part of a 10-match card at WrestleReunion 2, Aug. 26-28 at the Valley Forge Convention Center, 1160 First Ave., in King of Prussia.

The 45-year-old, former University of Oklahoma football All-American’s professional wrestling career was suddenly cut short last year when cancer of the neck and throat necessitated chemotherapy, radiation and several surgeries.

“I can’t believe that I am returning to the ring after this long, life-altering ordeal,” he said. “I’m looking forward to seeing my fans, who gave me their prayers and best wishes during the past year.” Williams’ advice to other cancer patients: “Number one is to do a lot of praying; God has a plan. Number two is to keep laughing and smiling; it’s great medicine for everyone.”

Sal Corrente, founder of WrestleReunion, said Williams’ return to the ring is miraculous. “He fought cancer with every muscle in his huge body. The victory over the disease is without a doubt the greatest victory he has ever attained – in or out of the ring.”

In a match billed as “the comeback many thought would never happen,” “Dr. Death” is pitted against King Kahlua. The match is one of 10 that will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. The main event features Larry Zbyszko vs. Diamond Dallas Page. If Zbyszko wins, he gets five minutes in the ring without a referee with the legendary Bruno Sammartino to settle a 25-year-old grudge between the two.

Co-hosted by Bill Apter and Diamond Dallas Page, WrestleReunion 2, the world’s biggest and best pro wrestling fan convention, will feature more than 50 of wrestlers from the last 40 years. In addition to the matches, autograph, photo and Q&A sessions, the weekend event will include a tribute dinner to Bruno Sammartino, “The Living Legend of Wrestling,” and the debut performance of Mick Foley’s one-man show, “Mick at Night.”

Information, VIP passes and event tickets are available at www.WrestleReunion.com or 941-358-6825. Steve Williams’ web site is www.oklastamped.com.
