Bob Verhey and I attended the Steve Williams memorial service held Friday at the Mile High Church in Lakewood, Co. It was nice seeing the Colorado pro wrestling community give their respect to a true wrestling legend as many wrestlers were in attendance.
Flying in and telling stories about Dr. Death were former University Of Oklahoma Sooner football coach Barry Switzer and former wrestling coach Stan Abel. They spoke highly of Williams and how he pushed himself to be on top.
Jim Ross told us how he was an only child and Steve had been like a younger brother to him. Ted DiBiase Sr., Stan Hansen, Terry Taylor, Jeremy Young and Leon "Vader" White shared stories of their lives on the road with Dr. Death.
An usher told me they expected 1000 to attend this service. I know the church was very crowded as Steve had touched so many in and out of the squared circle. It was an amazing event that was emotional at times but also had us in laughter.
RIP my friend!

Another friend of mine attended, Ron, he thought about 600 were there to say Good-Bye to Steve. Dear friend, you will be missed.. Georgie
