TERRY FUNK REVEALS WHY YOU HAVEN’T SEEN HIM IN TNA (AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MONEY)
By WorldWrestlingInsanity.com

In an industry that uses the word “legend” more than it should, there’s one man that everyone can agree fits the name.  He embodies the name.  He beats the name up and brands the Double Cross Ranch logo on it.  That’s right.  The legendary Terry Funk has joined ClubWWI.com for a 55 minute shoot interview that you have to hear for yourself.

He’s been beating opponents for many decades no matter where he’s gone.  From Japan to the WWF to WCW to ECW to the NWA to, well, everywhere, the Funker has kicked butt and taken names.  Now, as he prepares for his big return at XPW “Cold Day In Hell” on May 24th, Terry has joined James Guttman to discuss it all.  (For more ticket information on the show, as well as the countless other top wresting DVDs you can get from Big Vision, check out BVDVD.com)  Funk, who contributed to World Wrestling Insanity - The Book, joins the site for the first time much as his brother Dory did last year.

Among the topics Terry discusses with JG  on ClubWWI include: "The Boss" Who Thought of the Chainsaw Charlie Gimmick, Why He's Not in TNA, Vince McMahon's Theory on Wrestling, Mick Foley on Smackdown Commentary, Ric Flair's Over-Exaggerated Spot On The List of Wrestling Greats, His Dusty Rhodes Impression, The Only Time He Ever Retired On His Own, His Return at XPW "Cold Day In Hell," Sabu, Raven, Sandman, Hogan Knows Best, His DVD Club (FunkUDVD.com), The Rock, His First Day of Training and More.

One topic that James asked Terry about was TNA.  Many fans expect to see him pop up in the promotion, but he hasn’t.  Funk explains why that is:

“Yeah.  There is a reason.  Really, I like doing my own thing.  I know that sounds funny but everything carries obligation.  Well, what’s the obligation down there?  Well, to be very honest with you, to go to TNA for one day  is actually three days from where I am.  You know what I mean?  It’s not a matter of money.  They have some great boys down there.  Great guys.  Some good guys.  I have some friends down there.  I don’t know how great some of them are, but they’ve got some great ones, they’ve got some good ones, and they’ve got some decent ones.  But to go down there and come back, I don’t care if they pay me - and that’s the same way with New York, you know?  I don’t want money.  At this time in my life, yes, I want to perform.  But I want to do it on my own time and to obligate myself for three days a week for a year.  Hell, I’m an old fart.  You know?  Old people get mean and nasty.”

Funk promises to be mean and nasty at Redondo Beach for the XPW “Cold Day In Hell” Show on May 24th.  Terry will be the referee for SABU & HOMELESS JIMMY VS. RAVEN & "WHITE TRASH" JOHNNY WEBB.  He speaks about the stars involved in that match, his feelings about being a referee, how he prepares for it, and more.  All this plus tons more in a near-one hour ClubWWI.com interview that offers some unfiltered thoughts from a true wrestling legend.
