“The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes to replace Terry Funk at Ballpark Brawl IV

The July 15th event will feature Rhodes vs. Kid Kash!

Buffalo, NY – The Ballpark Brawl Executive Team is pleased to announce that “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes will appear on July 15th at Ballpark Brawl IV in Buffalo, NY (Dunn Tire Park). He will be replacing Terry Funk who will be unable to appear for personal reasons. Instead of announcing this at the show we have decided to let everyone know in advance so they can prepare for “The Dream!”

Dusty will be signing autographs beginning at 5pm so bring your books, figures and other Dusty items. In addition, we have just signed the notorious Kid Kash to face Dusty one on one in the ring!

“Oh, I am excited about getting back to Buffalo. The American Dream  Dusty Rhodes can’t wait to see his fans and take care of bidness! Kid Kash is a great young star. I guarantee that we’re going to get the plunder flowin but I will be first at the pay winda. If you will,” Said Dusty Rhodes.

“The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes vs. Kid Kash joins an all-star lineup that includes the current NATURAL Heavyweight Champion “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles vs. “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels. Plus, the nephew of Bret “The Hitman” Hart, Teddy Hart will face rising star Jay Lethal in a #1 Contenders Match. Rumors continue to surround that match as AJ Styles has announced that he has a surprise in store for Teddy Hart, a surprise from his past!

In addition, action will be non-stop as Chris Sabin, Petey Williams (with Scott D’Amore), Roderick Strong, John McChesney, Cody Steel and a mystery competitor will participate in an elimination 6-Man Scramble match. The women’s division will be represented with April Hunter taking on Ariel. “Slyck” Wagner Brown has sent an open challenge to Western New York and The BackseatMen (Trent Acid & Johnny Kashmere) will make their return to tag-team wrestling against a team to be named at the show. All this PLUS the return of the monster known as ABYSS, Matt Striker, Bobby Rude and a lot of surprises!

About Dusty Rhodes:  A living legend in the world of professional wrestling, Dusty Rhodes has wrestled for over three decades.  He has teamed up and faced some of the best the wrestling world has ever had to offer.

In the late 70s, Dusty Rhodes teamed up with Andre the giant to form one of the most beloved tag teams of all time.  Together they would be unstoppable as they had a combined weight of over 600lbs.  They would first capture the NWA Florida tag team titles, fallowed by the NWA United States tag team titles.

Dusty Rhodes would be even more successful as a singles star.  Wrestling the NWA circuit, he would capture the NWA Florida title (10 times); NWA Southern title (7 times); the NWA North American title; and the NWA World title (2 times).  Dusty Rhodes chased the NWA World title all over the country.  Featuring feuds with “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, Harley Race, Terry Funk, Nikita Koloff and various formations of the 4 Horsemen.

In 1989, “The American Dream” joined the then, World Wrestling Federation.  With his vibrant manager Sapphire, Dusty Rhodes would become an instant fan favorite.  He would face the self proclaimed “greatest WWE Intercontinental Champion of all time”, the Honky Tonk man. 

Perhaps his WWE career is most famous for his feud with the “Macho King” Randy Savage.  Their feud climaxed at Wrestlemania IV, when Dusty Rhodes teamed with Sapphire to face the Macho King and Queen Sherri.  Little did the Macho King and Queen know that Rhodes and Sapphire and an equalizer that night, the Macho Kings former manager, the Lovely Miss Elizabeth.  Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire would be victorious that night, putting the Macho King and Queen Sherri in their place.

Dusty Rhodes has not only been a wrestler, but has also made his presence felt behind the scenes in the wrestling industry.  He has been a booker, “creative consultant”, and of course announcer for several wrestling programs.  As an announcer he created his own wrestling language, or “dustyisms” if you will.  His way of speaking would drive an English teacher crazy, but kept the fans questioning what he really meant.

Recently, Dusty completed his first book entitled “Dusty: Reflections of An American Dream” This autobiography explores the life of Dusty Rhodes from his childhood through his amazing career. In this book, Rhodes recounts all of his famous angles, feuds, and road stories.
