……

The King has seen it all

It's good to be the King.

Jerry "The King" Lawler will have one of the best seats in the house at
WrestleMania 24 at the Citrus Bowl on March 30. He'll be right where he is every Monday night during WWE's flagship show, Raw, sitting ringside and calling the action alongside longtime broadcast partner Jim Ross.

So what does he think about as he gets set to be on the biggest stage in the wrestling universe?

"One of the first things that comes to mind for J.R. and I is the fact that we definitely have to go to the bathroom before the show because it's four hours long," Lawler admitted.

Well, that's honest. But it's not the only thing on his mind.

"One of the things I think about is how year after year --- and I started with the WWE in 1993 and have done quite a few WrestleManias --- it amazes me how each year somehow we seem to top the previous year," he said.

And you can count Lawler among the many people here in Orlando that WrestleMania is coming to town.

"I'm really looking forward to it from a selfish standpoint because Orlando is one of my all-time favorite cities," he said. "There's just so much to do down here. Not to say anything bad about other cities but like last year we were in Detroit and other than the WrestleMania show itself, there really wasn't a whole lot to do other than look outside your hotel room and watch Cops being filmed."

That is vintage Lawler as he has been able to use his sharp tongue and witty mind to make a seamless transition to the broadcast booth after becoming a wrestler nearly 40 years ago.

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last year for his stellar in-ring career that features 126 titles, including the AWA championship. He's not done wrestling yet; he still dons the tights on occasion for the WWE and smaller wrestling promotions. Somehow, after all these years, there is one item missing from his résumé --- a match at WrestleMania.

"That would be the final jewel in my crown to erase that one smear in my career in that I've never wrestled on one," he said. "Yeah, I'd love to have any kind of match at WrestleMania but I'm not worried about it. I'm content to sit over there with Good Ol' J.R. and call the action and be a part of it in that respect."

ROAD TO WRESTLEMANIA

It's official --- Shawn Michaels will square off against "Nature Boy" Ric Flair at WrestleMania. These are arguably the two greatest in-ring performers of all time finally meeting on the biggest stage. Just imagine if this match were 10 years ago when both men were in their primes.

Although Flair turned 59 this past Monday (happy birthday, Naitch!), don't bet against him having a bad showing. He will bring his "A" game while Michaels simply doesn't have bad matches and typically steals the show at WrestleMania.

SMACKDOWN ON THE MOVE

Wrestling fans will tune into a different channel this fall to watch Smackdown. The company announced earlier this week that the show will be moving to MyNetworkTV.

The final show on The CW will air on Sept. 12.

While most people have never heard of MyNetworkTV, it is available in more than 100 million homes. BrightHouse customers in Orlando have it on Channel 6 WRBW.

Smackdown will easily the highest rated show on the network once it makes the jump. If you're wondering what else is on MyNetworkTV, its current lineup includes Whacked Out Videos and Jail. Yep, pro wrestling will fit right in.
