"Television is the heart of the wrestling business. If you want to improve your business, the first place you need to look is at your television show."
The speaker was Sam Muchnick, President of the National Wrestling Alliance. The occasion was the annual meeting of the NWA at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas Nevada. The year was 1972 and I was NWA World Heavyweight Champion.
Also at the meeting were thirty world-wide wrestling promoters, members of the National Wrestling Alliance with the intention of learning all they could about improving their business.
Much about professional wrestling has changed but it is still true that television is the heart of the wrestling business.
This Thursday, November 16 on Spike TV at 9:00pm, TNA will take a giant step into the competitive arena of professional wrestling with their special prime time two hour special of iMPACT!.
As a fan of the Hard Work, High Risk and Innovative Style of TNA Wrestling, you will be a part of the largest audience ever of TNA's iMPACT! wrestling show.
I was in the iMPACT! Zone when two announcements were made. First was the release that TNA's iMPACT! was moving to prime time on Tuesdays at 9:00pm. There was a strong reaction from the wrestling fans. Then it was announced that Kurt Angle was coming to TNA Wrestling and they tore the house down.
The iMPACT! of both announcements will be felt this week as TNA goes prime time.
