Tonight’s initial game plan for Jeff Jarrett was to retrieve his NWA World Heavyweight Championship; however, after leaving Jim Cornette’s office he stated, “Sometimes it’s just not worth fighting the fight anymore.”

The next image was saw was Samoa Joe inside the six-sided ring with the NWA World Heavyweight Title across his shoulder. He reiterated a question we have all been asking ourselves and that’s simply – Why did he steal the NWA World Title? He humbly said that he stole it because for the last four years these fans have seen a ‘paper champion’ – people stealing the title for political leverage – namely Jeff Jarrett. So Joe concluded that at “Bound For Glory”, when either Sting or Jeff Jarrett wins, he would deliver back the belt to the true champion. There will be no conspiracies on this night, for Kurt Angle will serve as the special enforcer.

A fired up Christian Cage then busted onto the scene upon hearing the phrase ‘paper champion’ – he certainly hoped that was not in reference to his reign; however, Joe said he while Cage was close, he was second next to Jarrett. Cage firmly believed that the rightful owner of the NWA World Heavyweight Title should be the captain himself, so he laid out the challenge for later tonight – a non-sanctioned ladder match brawl with the NWA World Title hanging in the balance – who’s the better man, Christian Cage or Samoa Joe?

Backstage, we then had LAX’s Konnan, Homicide, and Hernandez speaking with JB, all of whom were coincidently blindsided by the NWA World Tag Team Champions, AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels. Upon receiving a chair shot from The Fallen Angel, Hernandez was busted wide open with a flying steel chair. The two teams then engaged in a bloody war that would continue throughout the entire arena. The ending result saw LAX brutalizing Daniels 3-on-1 behind a locked cage door while AJ could only look on. These two teams will move forward to their Six Sides of Steel match at “Bound For Glory” on Sunday, October 22 for the NWA World Tag Team Titles.

In X-Division action, Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt, Jay Lethal, and Shark Boy defeated TNA X-Division Champion, Senshi, Petey Williams, and The Paparazzi’s of Alex Shelley and Johnny Devine. They received a big thumbs up courtesy from their coach Jerry Lynn, but we were interrupted by the returning Kevin Nash who had a message. He stated that next week he would announce the details in a press conference regarding his “Kevin Nash Open Invitational X Division Gauntlet Battle Royal” set to take place at “Bound For Glory”.

Our second match of the evening saw Ron Killings and Lance Hoyt get the better of The Diamonds In The Rough when The Truth caught Primetime in the corner with a reversed sunset flip pinfall. After losing to The Truth and Lance Hoyt, an irate manager Simon Diamond verbally assaulted his team of Elix Skipper and David Young. Diamond threw his jacket at Elix and exited the ring, while Young and Skipper had words of their own. It appeared Elix was about to go after Diamond when Young pulled him away. After the argument, The Truth returned to the ring to shake Skipper’s hand for standing up for himself. Could we be witnessing the potential demise of The Diamonds In The Rough?

Kurt Angle in his TNA “iMPACT!” debut on Spike TV spoke candidly during a sit-down interview with quite a few words to spill. In a nutshell, Kurt spoke about why he feels working for TNA over WWE is much more beneficial not only for he and his family, but also the fans and wrestling business in general and it’s simply the fact to bring the “real” back to this sport. Kurt prides himself as being the 1996 Olympic gold medalist, and what better way than to have a pure wrestling champion like himself join such a diverse roster like TNA Wrestling has.

Being a 6-time World Heavyweight Champion in the WWE, Kurt spoke about how the CEO of that company stated that the company no longer needed him, when in reality Kurt no longer needed them. He had already been to the pinnacle of that company, and moving to ECW was definitely not a real fit for the pure wrestling machine, nor his fans. That was probably the most influential part of his departure from the company – why risk your body in extreme matches week in and week out? Angle assured the fans during this interview that he enjoys nothing more than entertaining and putting his body on the line for the fans, but if there’s one thing he learned best this year it’s that nothing is more important than his family. But while risking his body, he wants do to it the best possible way and that’s by simply “wrestling”. Now in TNA, he looks to take on the likes of Samoa Joe, Sting, Christian Cage, Rhino, Jeff Jarrett and many other stars that have set their sights on topping this sport, but most of all he is here to capture the world’s oldest wrestling title – the NWA World Heavyweight Championship – thereafter claiming himself the best there is in professional wrestling. TNA is Kurt Angle’s new home – “It’s real, it’s damn real!”

In the main event, we saw former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Christian Cage and current possessor of the title, Samoa Joe go through what could be described as a car wreck of a match during their non-sanctioned ladder bout. At one point, Joe hit three points with the ladder square between Cage’s legs while he was planted in the corner of the ring. Joe then proceeded in trying to take down the title; however, Cage quickly delivered an implanted DDT from the top of the ladder on Joe. Christian Cage would not hold his offensive position for long though because he was later on the receiving end of a senton backdrop that landed overtop of a ladder. Later, Cage would also receive the Muscle Buster from the top of the ladder after taking a harsh kick from Joe.

More punishment came when Abyss, Raven, and Brother Runt stepped into the ring upon trying to steal the NWA World Title, but later the trio would get distracted amongst each other in a brawl as they move forward to their Monster’s Ball Match at “Bound For Glory” in Detroit. Christian Cage quickly capitalized by grabbing down the title from the top of the ladder, but Samoa Joe shot himself up the ladder the moment he saw Cage grasp the title. Joe had retrieved the title and won the non-sanctioned ladder brawl when “The War Machine” Rhino delivered a surprise GORE on Christian Cage. That left Samoa Joe alone in the ring with the title he still holds at heart – the NWA World Heavyweight Title – stolen from the champion, Jeff Jarrett.

We’ll see you next week on Spike TV when TNA returns with the last “iMPACT!” before the “Bound For Glory” Pay-Per-View on Sunday, October 22 live from Detroit, Michigan. Then on Thursday, November 16 we hit our first PRIMETIME edition with a 2-hour special TNA “iMPACT!” on Spike TV at 9 PM ET!
