WITH PHOTOS….

TNA Wrestling finally returned to MA last night (Saturday, Dec 5) to the Mullin Center at the campus of UMASS Amherst.  It was a great live event, maybe one of the best TNA live event I have been to.

We arrived to the Mullin center around 5:30pm and by that time the snow was began to fall hard.  There was a sign posted on the many of the Mullin Centers doors saying that there would be a 2 autograph sessions during the event started at 6:30pm when doors open.

When doors open fans were greet by TNA ref Earl Hebner at the t-shirt stand.  Earl was sign for the any fan that had a TNA program.  Earl was real nice. Down the hall was “The Monster” Abyss.  TNA officials posted to meet Abyss the fans had to by a $10 TNA Promo Photo by then he would sign anything and take pictures.  Abyss was real nice, thanking the fans for coming to the show and supporting the company.  A few people had the Abyss TNA DVD “Doomsday”, which he was happy to see.

The show started around 7:30 with JB hyping up the crowd with talking about sending fans backstage during intermission.

Opening match was Suicide vs. Amazing Red for the X Title.  It was a fast pace match and got the crowd into the show.   There was a lot of near falls but Red held on to his title with the Code Red.  Suicide took the belt from Red, but handed it back to him and they raised hands.

J.B. gets in the ring after the match and announces a special guest ref for the following Knockout Tag Team match; “Man in the Box” (Tommy Dreamer’s real ECW theme song) goes over the house and J.B. announces Earl Hebner.  Only ref to get theme music and an announcement.

The Beautiful People (Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne) defeated the team of Awesome Kong and Hamada.  The Beautiful People do their normal and amazing ring entrance.  Then out came Kong and Hamada.  There were a lot of 2 on 1 on Kong.  Hamada is amazing to see live.  There are a few people that you have to see live just to understand how talented they are and Hamada is one of them.  She was all over the ring, dives and running up the ropes.  Velvet Sky pinned Hamada after a miss shot by Kong on Hamada.

Matt Morgan pinned Sheik Abdul Bashir.  Bashir worked over the knee of Morgan but was hit with the big boot.  During the match Morgan got on his knees because of the height difference and still continued to overpower Sheik, very funny spot.

Kurt Angle pinned Wolfe after the Angle Slam.  This was a great match, both me did a lot of submission moves.  Great match.  Angle got Wolfe in the Ankle lock but was kicked off.  Wolfe went for a comeback but missed and Angle Slam.

Intermission.

During the Abyss signing there was a poster up saying Beautiful People signing.  When asked about it the TNA official said it would be during intermission.  After the three count we went up to get in line and Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne were already there.  No one was there yet.  $10 for both of them on a TNA promo was great and they signed whatever else.  Got the program and Victory Road DVD cover signed.  Since not many people were there I asked for a photo with them and they said they are not able to do it but since it was not announced they would.  Both girls stood up and leaned over the table.  Both are great.  Future TNA Knockout Tag Champs.  We left and by then it was announced by JB that they were sign it looked like everyone left to meet them.  During intermission was also the backstage thing.  A friend saw Earl and asked him for an autograph; Earl said yea and took us backstage.  Signing was Kong, Suicide, Hamada, Red, and Kurt Angle.  I got a photo with Kurt who was still in his ring gear and was happy.

After Intermission, Abyss just running over Dr. Stevie.  Abyss got in the ring Stevie ran at Abyss and was hit with a black hole slam.  Ref Slick counted 2 when Abyss’s theme played.  Abyss then picked up Stevie and hit another black hole slam and then match was over.

Doug Williams and Brutus Magnus came to the ring and announced that they would be facing Beer Money but it would not be a title match because of what happened during the 6 sides of steel match.  Beer Money came out talked about how they know UMASS was a party school and had beer drinkers.  Great match and the fans were into it.  It may have been the match of the night.

Beer Money beat World Elite with the D.W.I.

Main Event:

AJ Styles pinned Daniels after the Styles Clash.  It was a get match.  Daniels was getting on a the case of a few fans by repeatedly hooking a head lock on AJ.  Daniels missed the B.M.E. and was hit with the Pele Kick.  Match also saw the Moonsault into a Inverted DDT.

After the match AJ Styles said that they cannot find a few great TNA fans to take backstage because Amherst was full of Phenomenal TNA fans so he is having backstage come to the ring.  AJ Styles signed at ringside before going into the ring to take photos with the fans with the belt.  Also Suicide, Abyss, Morgan, Kong, Beer Money, Red, Hamada, Earl, JB, and a few others signed.

It was a great show and worth the drive home in the snow storm.  I am looking forward to Sunday, Jan 10, 2010 when TNA comes back to New England.  TNA Wrestling will be at the O’Neil Center at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, CT.
