TOPEKA, Kan. -- A very, very tall Topeka man has attracted attention most of his life and takes it in stride.
Daniel Gilchrist, 23, is accustomed to people asking him how tall he is and whether he's ever played basketball. He's 7 feet 7 inches and played basketball in high school, but doesn't anymore. Now, he's hearing new questions about his role in a new movie about Andre the Giant, the late professional wrestler who was 7 feet 4 inches tall. Andre Roussimoff -- or the Gentle Giant -- was a pro wrestler with the World Wrestling Federation. He died in 1993 at age 46 from complications of acromegaly, or giantism. Gilchrist says his height comes from tall parents. Until this week, he worked in the Shawnee County Courthouse as a carpenter. Tags:
