WWE's Jack Swagger found guilty of DUI other, speeding in Gulfport

GULFPORT -- Wrestling superstar Jack Swagger was found guilty Tuesday of DUI other and speeding at a trial in Gulfport Municipal Court.

Judge Felicia Dunn-Burke dismissed a possession charge. Swagger was sentenced to six months probation, $500 fine and court costs. A two-day jail sentence also was suspended.

The 6-foot-7, 260-pound former world heavyweight champ wore a business suit and a large splint on one hand, accompanied by three attorneys as he entered court.

"I severed a tendon in my thumb," he said.

He declined to comment before the trial on the advice of his lead attorney, Vic Carmody of Jackson. He also did not comment after court. His attorney plans to appeal.

Swagger, whose real name is Donald Jacob "Jake" Hager, was accused of driving under the influence of marijuana.

Gulfport police said they pulled him over for speeding In February and found a small amount of pot in his car. Police stopped him about 90 minutes after he had taped a "WWE SmackDown" episode at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi.

He has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge.
