Jeff Hardy reportedly agreed to a 30-day contract extension to stay with WWE through SummerSlam. WWE didn't want to lose Hardy going into one of their biggest pay-per-views of the year. Hardy agreeing to the extension caused many of the creative plans for the pay-per-view to be changed.
