RAW vs. SmackDown 5-on-5 Elimination Match
November 27, 2005

This one is about more than just a win or a loss. This one is about pride. This one is about RAW and SmackDown trying to show its superiority over the other. These two sides have been invading each other’s turf for the past month, and it will finally come to a head when five RAW Superstars will meet five SmackDown Superstars in a battle of survival for all the bragging rights.

SmackDown was heading into this one with all of the momentum. The fans voted in Rey Mysterio and Matt Hardy to represent SmackDown at Taboo Tuesday against the team of Snitsky and “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters. While Mysterio and Hardy may have been overmatched in the size department, they utilized their quickness and high-flying ability to catch the RAW monsters off guard. The win was a major coup as SmackDown was able to make itself look like the superior brand on a RAW pay-per-view.

On the Nov. 7 edition of RAW, Eric Bischoff announced that Big Show, Kane & team captain Shawn Michaels were his first three team members, and Carlito defeated Shelton Benjamin later that night to claim the fourth spot on Team RAW. Then on Nov. 12, Bischoff decided that Chris Masters would round out his team of five.

The following Friday night, SmackDown GM Theodore Long responded, announcing that his team would be captained by World Heavyweight Champion Batista. Later that same evening, RAW seized the day. Before Edge's scheduled Street Fight against Batista could begin, their attention was drawn to the action in the back. Bischoff had shown up and Long tried to get rid of him. With Long distracted, "The Masterpiece" blindsided the SmackDown GM and caught him in the Master Lock. Masters & Bischoff were chased away by JBL, Lashley, Rey Mysterio and Matt Hardy, but this only left things wide open for the ambush to continue.

With several SmackDown Superstars gone from the building, Kane and Big Show hit the ring to attack Batista. Some of the remaining Superstars in the locker room stormed the ring, but the monsters of mayhem disposed of them and then hit Batista with a thunderous double chokeslam. RAW had invaded SmackDown and left the World Heavyweight Champion laying in the middle of the ring.

The following Monday, Batista led Team SmackDown into RAW. After a scuffle in the parking lot, Batista was chokeslammed through a car windshield by Big Show & Kane. While he was taken to the hospital, JBL returned to challenge Chris Masters to a match. Instead, Eric Bischoff gave him a match with HBK, and it was later made into a Handicap Match. The match eventually turned into a melee, and it seemed as if RAW would stand tall after Big Show & Kane gave Lashley a double-chokeslam. However, the World Heavyweight Champion returned with a pipe, taking out the World Tag Team Champions. When the smoke cleared, it was Batista who was the last man standing.

Which brand will reign supreme when Team RAW and Team SmackDown get it on at Survivor Series? Tune in on Nov. 27 to find out.
