The Wild Samoan Training Center, Inc.
The Wild Samoan Training Center, Inc. was founded over thirty years ago by WWE Hall of Famer Afa "The Wild Samoan". It was in Pensacola, Florida that the now world famous facility first began to train and assist in making the dream of becoming a pro wrestler a reality.
Over the years while The Wild Samoan himself was living his own dream as a pro-wrestler, Afa continued to train and assist with careers of other hopefuls and as he traveled the world, he moved the training center to Connecticut and later to Pennsylvania so that he could always have a hand in helping others. Throughout the thirty years, many have passed through the ropes of this training genius who has earned the name "POPS" by those who know him best.
Afa's own brother Sika was his first student, and together with Afa formed the extreme tag-team known as "The Wild Samoans". Afa and Sika's sons and nephews who make up the Samoan Dynasty are: Samu, the late Yokozuna, the Tonga Kid, Rikishi, Rosey, Umaga, L.A. Smooth, The Rock, the Black Pearl, and THE NEWEST WWE superstar Manu.
Some of the names of the past and present who have benefited from the Wild Samoan include: Michael Hayes, the late Junk Yard Dog, Paul "Mr. Wonderful Ordnorff, Paul E. Dangerously, Hulk Hogan, the late Sherri Martell, the late Bam Bam Bigelow, Doink the Clown, Luna Vachon, Gangrel, Beth Phoenix, Matt Stryker, Gene Snisky, Batista, Sal Corrente, John Rambo, Homicide, Low Ki, Tracy Brooks, Talia Madison, Kevin Keenan and many more.
The training camp is the place where it all begins. Afa specializes with assisting newcomers, teaching them all of the basics, independent wrestlers who need to tone up their skills, and seasoned wrestlers who need to get ring time. It starts in the classroom, and it is later through WXW Wrestling that his students get to shine as the upcoming starts of tomorrow in the WXW teaching federation. WXW is proud to offer a women's league that offers women athletes the chance to showcase their talents on their own all women events.
The Wild Samoan Training Center has moved back to the sunshine state to where it all began and is making its home in Central Florida located at the Post of Leesburg Armory 400 W. Meadow Street. Students train in an air-conditioned 10,000 square foot facility with 2 wrestling rings twice each week and wrestle on live events to gain crowd interaction and TV exposure. The first Central Florida event was held on September 20, 2008 in Minneola, Florida. At the conclusion of the event Afa "The Wild Samoan" was presented with the key to the city by Minneola Mayor Mr. Bill Yeager in appreciation for bringing a family oriented wrestling show to his community.
Fans can enjoy family oriented entertainment through our upcoming events while helping to support these young athletes: Saturday, October 25th Minneola Fall Fest at Trailhead Park with a 5:00 PM bell time, Sunday, October 26th Halloween Nightmare at the Leesburg Armory where fans are asked to bring canned goods to service the Leesburg food bank and kids can dress up in their costumes and receive free treats. Bell time 6:00 PM, and the WXW Elite 8 all Women Tournament Saturday, November 15th at the Leesburg Armory with a 7:30 PM bell time. www.wxwwrestling.com
The Wild Samoan Training Center gives back! The training center has received many letters from men and women who want to join the program but just can't afford to invest in their future and dreams during these hard times. In consideration of the economic recession that we are facing, Afa "The Wild Samoan" has generously offered to reduce the tuition to enter into his world famous training program in Leesburg, Florida. For a limited time students can join the Wild Samoan Training Center at a half price rate. In addition, Afa will also offer one lucky student a full scholarship! Men and women ages 18 through 35 years of age are welcome to take advantage of this special offer. To reserve your spot for the scholarship offer that will take place on Saturday November 22 at 1:00 p.m., you are required to pay a registration fee of $100. www.wildsamoan.com
Quote from Afa "The Wild Samoan": " With times being what they are, we need to have something to believe in and hold on to so that we can make it through each day. We have only one life to live and a short time to be young, and it doesn't stop when things get hard. Someone told me that your hopes and dreams are what makes you get out of bed each morning, so with this being said, if I can help to give hope to the young athletes who want to get into the wrestling world by making my program more affordable, it is my way of giving back to this great sport of wrestling."
