Tons of news and updates…..

We have been overwhelmed with response to the offer for the Hulk Hogan/Shawn Michaels exclusive free giveaway.  I have received over 200 responses already.  But PLEASE only send ONE entry, after today (Friday) if you send me more than one, I will remove the entries.  Thank you and have a great weekend...

I have received a ton of mail in outrage to the Smackdown special.  Has Vince McMahon lost his mind again?   Eddie's car up in flames in very, very poor taste.  Many letters stated, this is the reason I no longer can watch wrestling.  Everyone thought it was very disrespectful and it was......
What amazes me, is that WWE can put on such a great and classy tribute show in Eddie's memory, then do something like this.

Tonight's Smackdown in Orlando, FL will be on at 10:30 PM due to Basketball.

From WWE.com:  Saturday Night’s Main Event is returning to NBC this March, 2006 after a 13-year hiatus. In the mid-1980s through early 1990s, WWE fans would scour the television listings each month — making sure they didn’t miss the highly anticipated special that replaced network staple Saturday Night Live on occasion. When Jon Lovitz, Dennis Miller and Dana Carvey weren’t performing comedy sketches, WWE Superstars were squaring off in matches that often took on a pay-per-view feel.

My friend Michael Weaver, Jr. has done an interview with Trish Stratus.   Trish talks about TNA, her friends who are no longer with WWE, Eddie Guerrero, the Women's Division, Melina, video games, action figures, and more!  Read the interview today to be STRATUSFIED!  It can be found at his website WU Online | www.wrestlingupdateonline.com

With their latest quarterly results coming out, WWE received a lot of media coverage, mostly mildly positive.
Over at CBS Marketwatch <
http://www.marketwatch.com/news/yhoo/story.asp?source=blq/yhoo&siteid=yhoo&dist=yhoo&guid=%7BE245C319%2D83B4%2D4896%2D968E%2D57B081AFE94D%7D  >, it notes that while there was a slump in live-event and television revenues, WWE had higher sales in merchandise.
An AP article <
http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/051201/earns_world_wrestling.html?.v=1 > notes that it was specifically DVDs that came out that helped the boost in sales. It also notes  that analysts were expecting .07 gains per share, instead they got .17.
The positive outlook led to the McMahon's getting more money out of their WWE stock, according to the AP <
http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/051201/world_wrestling_dividend.html?.v=1 >, as WWE decided to double its dividend and will pay 24cents on Jan 10 for anyone has their stock on Dec 31. Vince even has a quote saying  "future earnings growth and thoughtful capital deployment will allow (World Wrestling) to pay this high level of dividend for the foreseeable future."
Reuters notes <
http://yahoo.reuters.com/financeQuoteCompanyNewsArticle.jhtml?duid=mtfh70080_2005-12-01_14-33-05_wen5369_newsml > that revenues for WWE for the quarter were $88.9 million, a net increase of 11.7 million from the previous year.

During the WWE Conference call Linda McMahon talked about the company working harder to drive website and sponsorship revenue to help offset the loss of TV ad sales. There is still no theatrical release dates for the movies "See No Evil" starring Kane and "The Marine" starring John Cena. The company anticipates to start filming "The Condemned" with Steve Austin in Spring of 2006. Linda talked about the company looking into doing some made-for-TV movies on a lower budget compared to theatrical releases.
She said that there are still plans in place for late night specials on NBC (likely in March building up to Wrestlemania 22). She also talked about the strong home video sales and said many more DVD specials are in the works.
