WRESTLING CHATTERBOX UPDATE FOR DECEMBER 6th

  • Georgiann Makropoulos

……

Well, with Paul Heyman gone from WWECW, ECW will never be the same.  I don't believe it ever had a real fighting chance.  I feel sorry for the original ECW talent, because they will never cut a break, and be showcased as long as its under the WWE banner.
I want to wish Paul E. good luck with his future plans, and hopefully we will find out what they are sooner or later.  I don't see Paul sitting home for long.  He will be involved in other projects soon, IMO.  He has a genius mind and he shouldn't be idle.

Letter from one of our readers, "Why ECW Sucks":

Ok, I just can’t sit back and watch the sport I love come to crap.  I never ever side against the WWE and their staff.   I mean how the hell can you argue with the results? Vince is the Donald Trump of wrestling.  He is a man that saw the vision and laid the plan out to perfection.  Vince has a lot of hate from others in the wrestling business, but let’s look at why.  He saw the opening for the product to go national and he ran the small companies out like white castles through your intestines.  Raw was being dealt loss after loss and he fought back and developed the attitude era.   Then he ran WCW, his main competitor, into the ground and was able to buy his competition for a fraction of what it was worth.  Vince has never ever let his business plans be altered by anyone.  That is till now!!  Vince take this from me, as I am a father of 2 and love my children more then air, but your beautiful daughter has clouded your better judgment.  Her continued hate for the ECW product and what it stands for has cost you millions. ECW is not a brand extension it is a cult.  ECW is not made for 8-12 year old kids holding SABU signs.  It was designed for the local bar room bully to watch and say, “Holy crap he smashed a beer bottle over that guys head.  That’s what I would have done.”  ECW was the land of misfit toys that molded and was made a revolution, not a place for Test to be pushed.  In ECW they would have shit in Test’s bag and laughed when his feet went in to his sneakers full of Sandman’s puke.  Vince DX is a goldmine and belongs on RAW.  ECW fans are the drunken guys that society fears when walking down a dark street at 4am, not moms and dads wearing a RVD t-shirts. You missed the boat Vince.  You needed to book matches and people the fans loved not what your kids like.  You needed local promoters to secure 3 thousand seat buildings and sell them out with bloody brawls and matches with the legends like Sandman, RVD, Sabu and Balls, men that actually built ECW. You can’t have Lashley winning the ECW Title or force feed Test to the diehards.  You’re only making your fans turn their backs to ECW, because the new ECW in reality is the anti-ECW.  Stephanie’s dislike for the product shows, as does the mere fact Triple H is on the booking team. Why on earth Vince would you let a worker book?  That is the first class in Indy wrestling 101.   Never have your worker book.  You ask why?  Let us state the case of one Mr. C.M. Punk, the lone bright spot of the new ECW.  Punk is what wrestling has evolved into in 2006.  A man made and backed by the internet, a wrestler that without national exposure on TV was more talked about then anyone getting 20 minute promos on RAW.  Mr. Punk then began to get his TV time and guess what the first real ECW moment of the new ECW took place in NYC with Punk getting so over that it felt real again.  Now let’s progress to the last 2 weeks.  Triple H, HBK, The Hardy Boys and Mr. Punk are all sharing a ring and guess who is the most over?  Mr. Punk is once again the breath of fresh air.  Then the time comes for the Elimination chamber.  Built as the ultimate source of violence in ECW and the WWE and what happens?  It falls flat and who gets the anti push?  CM Punk. You ask why?  The answer is none other then Vince’s little female demon seed and her Harley Race want to be husband.  Triple H is the great story in the history of modern sports.  He is a true ring genius that took nepotism to the next level.  He not only positioned himself into the top story lines from now to never, but he gets to pick and choose what careers he gets to ruin.  Triple H has come a long way since the days of being Arn and Flair’s designated driver in WCW.  The man is a amazing in ring talent and has no reason to fear for his top spot.  So why choose to stand in the way of raising talent? Because, he can Vince, that’s why. The same way you were able to take Southwest Championship wrestling’s time slot on USA network.  The same way you got on WTBS to remove GCW.  Vince you were revolutionary in what you did, but the second generation is more seen as terrorists!!!!  They have taken a product that you built into something celebrities begged to be a part of.  Something that world leaders watched and TV shows begged to have your stars on?   Having your next generation of stars held down and shit on, because the bosses daughter married the worlds biggest ego maniac since you?  Your family is ruining your company so I have decided to share with you how to save ECW one last time before it is done away with.  I also officially volunteer to run it if needed.  Here are the things that need to be done.

1) Secure buildings in Philadelphia, New Jersey and NYC to start.  We can branch out to Florida and Boston also, but only after 3 months of getting it done right.

2) Give me the power to sign up local promoters in the above mentioned states for local promoting duties.  Credible names that draw good numbers.  Men like Frank Goodman, Frank Iadevia, Ray Sager, Kim Ketner etc.

3) Give me a roster of Sabu, C.M. Punk, RVD, Guido, Balls, Super Crazy and Sandman. If you need to send me WWE stars send me Cryme Tyme, Murdoch and if I have to keep Knox I will.  Allow the signing of indy tag teams like the Havana Pitbulls, The SAT and Eckos and Bax to help build the under card.

4)      Run old school TV tapings with 3-4 weeks of TV shot in the same building.  Give ECW 2006, a USWA or GCW wrestling feel, a studio type set up.  Lose all the pyro and entrance way crap and send in the old school.  2 titles in the singles division.  TV and Heavyweight championship and, of course, a tag title.

5) Start the company off right with a lengthy title run by CM Punk.  Feed him heel after heel.  Let’s get back to 2-4 year title runs and have the championship mean something.

Bring in Crowbar and feud him vs Sabu in a best of 7 extreme match series.  One night a cage match, one night a hell in the cell, then a bull rope match, then 4 corners of death. You get the point.  Feud the Pit bulls vs Cryme Time in a new version of Pit bulls vs Gangsta’s.  Three way dances between RVD vs Crazy and Guido for the TV title.

This is enough for free.  Vince anything else you can reach me at [email protected] . Some will read this and laugh others will read it and realize we are losing what took years to establish.

This is what Jim  Ross had to say about Heyman's leaving:  Unfortunate to see Paul Heyman, the former ECW guru, leave the WWE. Paul is a bright guy with many interests and will no doubt “land on his feet”. I have known and worked with Paul for MANY years, even when I was “thinner” and “Happy Heyman” had hair. We had our battles but Heyman is a sharpie cookie and won’t need a telethon or fund raiser any time soon. I wish him the best in whatever he chooses to do.

Show's over
By Craig Tello
December 6, 2006

The World’s Largest Athlete has made his life’s biggest decision, and for now, WWE and ECW will be without a giant.

Not since Andre the Giant has there been a man of Big Show’s stature who’s made such impact on sports-entertainment. But, after more than seven years in WWE and a five-month reign of dominance in the reborn ECW, Big Show has decided to take time away from the ring.

Enduring not only one of the most physical confrontations in his career against new ECW World Champion Lashley on ECW on Sci Fi, but also experiencing the agony and misery within the torturous Extreme Elimination Chamber, it seemed that this week was the breaking point for the giant.

Some close to Big Show have said that his pride was lost after losing the ECW World Title. His lingering emotions and injuries, coupled with several tumultuous days contributed to his decision to step away.

“I’m a raw-boned bastard that breaks things and moves the immovable objects. When I’m injured, I can’t do those things,” said the Extreme Giant. “I’m much more valuable healthy both mentally and physically, and this hiatus will help me to get there.”

According to Big Show, he has been plagued by a multitude of injuries from herniated discs to torn muscles, but has still competed through the pain. Bodily damage of this nature is something an ordinary individual (of far smaller size) could never endure, let alone carry the weight of the ECW World Title in a highly physical realm of hardcore.

“I’ve reached a point in my career right now where I am a little run down and hurt pretty bad physically,” explained the Extremist. “I’ve been wrestling the past three months pretty much in pain every night. I can’t compete at the level I want to compete at, and that’s the most heartbreaking thing.”

Despite his display of supremacy, Big Show claimed that his performance in the ring has not been at his full potential. It is this that has driven the immense competitor to step away from WWE for now.

“I think every athlete reaches a point in their career when he really has to check himself and evaluate what is going on,” said the 500-pound Extremist. “Anybody who knows me knows I need a break. People go through life so fast sometimes they miss it; I just want to put on the breaks.”

According to the World’s Largest Athlete, the physical ache he’s experienced doesn’t compare to the emotional anguish that’s accompanied his decision to take a break not just from his career, but also the familial lifestyle of sports-entertainment.

With a career that’s spanned more than one decade, Big Show has held every major World Championship in sports-entertainment and is the only man to hold the WWE Championship, ECW World Title and World Heavyweight Championship.

More importantly, the Extreme Giant said that in his conquests, he’s had the extraordinary opportunity to have battled the biggest icons in sports-entertainment including Hulk Hogan, Triple H, Ric Flair, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Rock, Undertaker and countless others.

“It’s bittersweet; this business is a family. I’ve been traveling and I’ve been in this business for 11 wonderful years,” stated a passionate Big Show. “I’ve been able to work with almost every top Superstar in this business that’s ever meant anything… I’ve had some very memorable matches and I’m thankful for it.”

Whether cheered or jeered by WWE fans, Big Show has always been respected and kept audiences in sheer awe. Now, the seven-footer is anxious to take some time away from the spotlight, though that spotlight shines extra bright upon an individual of such mammoth size.

“Being this big, you can never hide,” he admitted with a large grin. “I’m thankful for it but right now I just want some time for myself. I’m thankful for the fans and I hope that they can respect this decision and can be supportive too.”

While Big Show hopes to recover and refresh himself, he discussed his possible involvement in a future WWE Films release.

“I want to reinvent myself if possible, and find out who Big Show really is,” he admitted. “I’d like to do a WWE movie – a comedy – because I have a pretty good sense of comedic timing. I’m a pretty humble, lovable, funny, easy-going guy with a short fuse. Then again, like Chris Rock said, nobody wants to laugh at a big guy who could beat your ass.”

Until then, it’ll be a “big, bad show tonight” and every other night until the Extreme Giant makes his way back home to the squared circle.

“I’m thankful for everything,” asserted Big Show. “For every man who has stepped in the ring with me and trusted me with their bodies. For WWE officials who have been so supportive of my decision when I basically went to them in tears and told them I was burnt out.”

In addition to these very genuine words, Big Show also had a message for ECW and WWE fans alike.

“I’d like to give a special thanks to ECW fans,” he added. “I wasn’t a part of the original ECW, but I gave all I had for them and I hope solidified my part in ECW. For anyone who has cheered me, loved me, hated me and booed me: thank you.”

The latest from Diamond Dallas Page and his newest movie starring Wesley Snipes:
Well I'm still hanging out and Namibia... But I guess I shouldn't call it hanging out because I've actually working every day on my newest film GallowWalker... GallowWalker, starring Wesley Snipes, takes place in the Wild Wild West in the 1800's... GallowWalker is a supernatural Western directed by Andrew Goth... Wesley plays a character named Aman and is, of course, the hero... The set designs look great but the real natural beauty
is the breathe taking Namibia itself... check out some of the pictures on the site to semi-appreciate what I'm talking about...

Ric Flair's absence from WWE television is due to what should be a very nasty divorce which is set to start pretty soon and apart from having an emotional effect, it may very well have a bigger financial impact on Flair.
Last year his second wife Beth filed for divorce, citing alcohol and domestic abuse. Flair, who is in big trouble with the IRS for not paying over $1 million in taxes over the years, might have the fight of his life with this legal proceeding. Last year, the IRS took $200,000 out of Flair's salary to start covering the taxes he did not pay.
