Thanks to Bob for this article from the Pittsburgh-Tribune Review on Kurt Angle grappling with addiction:

"Painkillers are like heroin. When you get caught up in it, you start taking 10 or 20. I was up to 65 a day. I had to take 18 to get out of bed. I went to the pharmacy every other day. I found a way to get 10 different doctors to get my prescriptions. It worked out perfectly; every other day I got 120 pills. My first priority was to get to the pharmacy."

UPWA November 11th
The fastest growing wrestling promotion in the southeast packed the National Guard Armory in Wilmington North Carolina to the limit with nearly 400 fans when UPWA rolled into town on Nov 11th. In the double Main Event, first Tag Team Champions and Donald Brower Enterprises Members Sexual Violence (Playboy Marcus Shields/Pete Nixon) def the Ringbusters (Dave Renegade/Beast). In the second half Heavyweight Champion Sexton Tyler def. Cruiserweight Champion Dan De Man. There was some controversy as Referee Chris Seacrest called for the bell when Dan locked on the STF some say to early. A senior official ran out, restarted the match and Tyler won. After the match, Andrew Anderson and Carnage hit the ring and challenged the men to a 6 man match for the Dec 2nd show at the armory, Marc Ash/Tyler/Viper vs. Carnage/Anderson/DanDeMan which was accepted. Viper vs Carnage went to a time limit draw. This match was so intense the men brawled after and had to be seperated by the locker room. Andrew Anderson def. La Maskito. Eric Evans def Draven by countout. Draven's father was ringside. He was kicked in the face by Evans and Draven went to check on his dad resulting in the countout. Chris Craven def Mike Cruz and A.J. Angel via pinfall in a back and forth triple threat match. Quinton Holmes def. Diadem in a hard fought match. LATank def. Saber in a back and forth match. UPWA returns to the armory on Dec 2nd. for more information visit www.theupwa.com

According to NWS promoters, tonight's (Saturday, November 11) event at the Park Ridge Elks Lodge was the least attended event of the year and unlike other promoters who try to put fake numbers out there, NWS stands by their belief of "telling the truth". And even though attendance was low by NWS standards, the show was one of the best in recent memory with not one but two title changes on the show.
Quick Results (expanded results to follow later this week)
Paco Libro def Antonio Malave
The Dublin Destroyers made their NWS debut defeating J.D. Smooth & K.C. Sunshine
Goal-Duh def King Kaluha
King Du I Stinq told the fans that he would be managing Corvis Fear in tonight's main event
Johnny Candido regained the NWS hardcore title from The Equalizer (who won the strap last night)
Intermission
Nicky Oceans def Slayer to re-capture the NWS Jersey Shore Title
The Clown def Corvis Fear (with King Du I Stinq) after the Clown hit Fear and Stinq with a bucket of water.
On a funny note, a fan attacked King Du I Stinq and tried giving him his own version of a Stunner before security stepped in to help the King.
Side Bar Chris Idol was a no call no show

National Wrestling Superstars results from Manasquan, NJ on Friday, November 10.
J.D. Smooth def Paco Libro (after what appeared to be an accidental kick to the groin)
One-time ECW star The Equalizer proved he still has it when he defeated Johnny Candido in a strap match for the NWS hardcore title
Slayer once again defeated Nicky Oceans to capture the NWS Jersey Shore title.
TNT and The Clown went to a no-contest when Saddam Insane and The Patriot interfered in the match.  At that point, NWS management told all the wrestlers that they would be involved in a "Hangman's Noose Match" as part of the main event
The Tuckerton Terror Dave Duncan returned to NWS rings to defeat Antonio Malave after a big splash in the corner.
Corvis Fear and Gavin Quest renewed their feud, but Quest refused to put the NWS Cruiserweight title on the line saying "According to the rules of pro wrestling, I, as a champion, only have to defend my title once every 30 days". And despite the fact it was a non-title match, Fear went at Quest with full force and defeated him (with a little help from Johnny Candido) 1-2-3
The main event saw The Patriot & Clown defeat the Baghdad Bullies (TNT and Saddam Insane) with their manager King Du I Stinq.

TNA CT. show cancellation
My name is Joe and I just wanted to write to you about what happened at the cancelled TNA show in CT last night. My friends and I arrived at the tennis court a little before 5 pm to about 10 police cars telling people that the event had been cancelled and to turn around. Being that we had driven 2 hours from Poughkeepsie, NY i decided that i we needed to stretch out and join the crowd to see what had happened, how we'd get our money back etc. A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels were actually as surprised as we were and were more than happy to sign autographs and offer apologies. There was about 30 of us who remained there after the police had closed the road and were basically invited to an impromptu meet and greet/ tailgate party. All of the wrestlers who were on site signed autographs, talked with everyone and was all around appreciative that people came to see them and stayed under the circumstances. I personally got to meet Styles, Daniels, Samoa Joe, AMW, Brother Runt, Abyss, Jay Lethal, Petey Williams, Eric Young, SoCal Val, Rhino,  and Earl and Brian Hebner. We were given concessions that were for the event for free and I think we had just as much fun as if we had sat through the wrestling even itself. I really want to thank the officials, the promoters and the TNA wrestlers who stayed and did all they could to give the fans a night to remember under the crappy circumstances that had happened. They showed class and dedication to us fans and that really made me more comfortable in my decision to buy TNA tickets in the future
