Ever since Dave Meltzer reported that King Booker quit the WWE, there has been much speculation, on whether or not he will retire from wrestling.  I understand that the WWE is still trying to negotiate with Huffman to stay with them.  I heard that the WWE was pissed at him for having TNA guys on his show.  Booker was upset over the unfair suspension.  Booker is financing set, he really doesn't have to return.   Booker is 42 and has done so much, no need for him to stick around, this one will be interesting to follow..

Romeo Roselli Movie News
After successfully filming a featured role for the film, "Baby Mama" starring Saturday Night Live's Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, Romeo Roselli just finished filming a scene for his second major motion picture- "College Road Trip" starring renowned comedian Martin Lawrence and from Cosby Show fame Raven "Olivia" Symone. Both movies are set to hit theaters nationwide around Spring 2008.

In "College Road Trip", Roselli plays the leader of a Greek fraternity, leading a Greek Festival until Lawrence and Symone crash into the party - literally! This mark's Roselli's first principle role and combined with his previous featured role in "Baby Mama" automatically makes him eligible to join the elite Screen Actors Guild and has been offered the opportunity by S.A.G.

Romeo has been cutting down on his wrestling schedule as of late and is also rumored to be taking time off to continue focusing on his budding acting/modeling career as well as his flourishing personal training business. He has also revamped and reopened his official web site at www.RomeoRoselli.com

WRESTLING BABYLON: Not Fit to Print in The Washington Post
After doing a preliminary edit, The Washington Post, in its wisdom, has declined to publish my letter in response to a story last month about the alarming number of pro wrestler deaths. The Post article — a pretty good one, by the way — can be viewed at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/08/15/AR2007081502399.html. The text of my unpublished letter is below.

***************

In “Death Grip” (Aug. 16), wrestler Glenn Gilberti tells reporter Paul Farhi that pro wrestling today is “more physical and realistic” than it used to be. That characterization needs qualifiers.

The wrestling industry formerly operated by a carnival code known internally as “kayfabe.” Essentially this meant that the “marks” of the public were not to be let in on the joke that the performances were prescripted “works” rather than genuine “shoot” matches.

In the late 1980s kayfabe was jettisoned. Part of the explanation for the change was the emergence of at least some smarter and less irony-deprived fans. But the biggest factor was then-World Wrestling Federation head Vince McMahon’s campaign to get out from under state athletic commission regulations and especially taxes. Over howls of protest from old-line carny promoters who feared (incorrectly) that “exposing the business” would kill it, McMahon cheerfully put out the word that wrestling was fake.

What we face today with wrestling’s death pandemic is one of the conundrums of postmodernism. You would think the demise of kayfabe would make things safer for the talent. But as Gilberti notes, the opposite is the case.

THE TIGER KHAN MEMORIAL CARD
By Evan Ginzburg
The small building was about two thirds full.
Many of the wrestlers you’ve probably never heard of.
And the venue could have used a good sweeping.
The September 9th Tiger Khan Memorial Show may not sound like a triumph, but it had a helluva lot of heart.
And a few tears to go with it.
My co-promoter, The Mambo King, started the afternoon off with all the wrestlers on the card gathering around the ring for the traditional ten bell salute. Mambo called up Tiger Khan’s original trainer, a teary eyed Bobby Bold Eagle. Bobby’s love for Tiger was palpable as was his pain. The legendary Junior Heavyweight spoke fondly of not only Tiger but two other protégés he lost in Rocco Rock and Billy Firehawk. Pulling no punches whatsoever, he warned the young crew of grapplers about the perils of the business, particularly steroids.
What you saw in the show’s ten matches ranged from typical indie fare to good solid wrestling to a world class match-up in the submission bout between Calgary Stampede’s Ruffy Silverstein and Eric Adamz. These two warriors put on a pure wrestling clinic that rivaled anything you’d witness anywhere. Silverstein also came out on top in an impressive Battle Royal, and his “transing himself in” from Canada to be there for his close friend Tiger was the ultimate in class. Also of note, the stars of TMPW wrestled their hearts out in the sauna like setting, Khan’s close friend Pelligro made a return to the ring after a seven year absence looking like he hadn’t missed a step, Tom Brandi and The Musketeer proved to be the ultimate professionals, and Damian Dragon showed once again that he’s one of the indies unsung heroes. Interestingly enough ECW’s Zombie (Tim Arson) has a gimmick so over the top that it’s just great; small kids were literally fleeing from him in terror. A major promotion should pick him up because this man could draw.
Throughout the day filmmakers Fanco Frassetti, Sandro Finamore, Ryan Lockheart and myself conducted interviews for the upcoming Tiger Khan documentary that we’ll be editing and releasing this fall. And when Tiger’s mother walked into the dressing room to be met by a round of applause and a line of wrestlers who one by one hugged and kissed her, it was both deeply moving and heartbreaking.  On screen this spontaneous outpouring of love and sympathy will be more powerful than any scripted film could ever possibly hope to be.
As a first time wrestling promoter, I knew walking in that there was going to be “no money here.” And it was never about that anyway on my end, or on the part of the incredibly selfless wrestlers who were there to honor a fallen comrade. I was willing to go through the trials and tribulations of promoting for the sake of a documentary that will not only help keep my “brother” Tiger’s memory alive, but will hopefully act as a warning cry to other good and intelligent people who make bad choices.
That we managed to put on a quality show that had the fans leaving happy was the icing on the cake of a day both memorable and emotional.
